The topics were Therapeutic Recreation, and Problem Solving. In charge of the workshop was Marie Murphy Foran who is work- ing for the O.N.H.A. Present were members of staff from Mitchell, Fordwich, Brus- sels, Hensall and Seaforth. Church service was held on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Shirley Luther in charge. "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung and prayer offered in loving memory of Cecil Rhoades a former resid- ent of Seaforth Manor, This was one of his favourite hymns. Each year our bazaar has been well received by the community and we hope this year's bazaar and tea will be no exceptioh. The Friendship Circle of Eicsi.. We hope this will be completed by the end of this month in readiness for Re- membrance week. The First War veterans bangluet was held last Satur- day afternoon in Clinton with 27 veterans present. Our, President Peter Malcolm, past -president Bill Wilbee and our sick and visiting chairman Bill Dalrymple at- tended with nine of our first war veterans. After an after- noon of cards and a meal served by the Auxiliary of Clinibn and a sing song of the old first world war songs, the meeting closed with the hope ' they would see them all again next year. The' tickets for the veter- ans' banquet on Saturday, November 6 will be out this week. All members will be contacted by a member of the executive. So please decide as soon as possible -if you can attend. Our speaker this year will be Claire Wall, our service officer for this region. Hugill and Mrs. Hugill in Harpurhey. Former Stratford residents they moved to the west coast two years ago and this is their first trip back to Ontario. A number of local people were proud members of a graduation audience in Holland recently when Rev. John Van Den Hengel received his doctorate in theology. Rev. Van Den Hengel graduated Sept, 15 from the Katholieke Universiteit in Nijmegen, Holland and is presently teaching at St. Paul's University in Ottawa. Guests at the graduation included three of his brothers. Jack and wife Mary Anne from Owen Sound; Tony and wife M ary from R.R.. 5, Seaforth and Bill of Calgary. Alberta aid John's sister Rose, and her husband Piet Loomans of Seaforth. While the Canadian members of the family were in Holland, a reunion of Canadian and Dutch Van Den Hengcl•Boersen family was held. It was attended by 200 aunts, uncles and first cousins. Seaforth Manor Nursing Home gets mention on the front page of the latest issue of Ontario Nursing Homes. The Manor's special olympics to raise funds for the heart Jamboree, with help from Seaforth Public School students, is reported. A former moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, died recently in University Hospital, London. I, Hensall, just seven kilometres east of Hensall on Friday night. Charged with attempted mur- der is Roy Allen Becker, 28, of R.R. I, Dashwood. According to an OPP spok- esman, the Sebringville de- tachment was alerted by officials at South Huron Hos- pital in Exeter on Friday night at approximately 11:45 p.m., after they treated Randolph D. Redmond, 28, of Huron Park for multiple stab wounds. Police arrested and charg- ed Mr. Becker. shortly after Happy Birthday Sandra Mclnally, 9 years old, October 5.
