(Photo by Steven Horst) Dublin Lions host key presentation On Saturday evening Sept. 1I, the Dublin and District Lions Club of Dublin held the presentation of keys evening which was enjoyed by all. A delicious banquet which was ;accred by the "Garage" of London was served followed by dancing. The president of the Dub- lin Lions Club. Jim Snowdon, called the evening to order and introduced the Master of Ceremonies Tcd cope). P.D.D.G. Roy Swart, vc of Hibbert Township propos• ed a toast 10 the Dublin Lions Club and later gave a civic welcome to the club. Mr. Swart congratulated the club on the fine building which they have erected and the outstanding job the club has done in the village It has taken a great deal of time and effort along with com- munity spirit and unity to accomplish what we sec here today. • Guest speakers for the evening were Hugh Fdighof- fer, M.P.P. and Bill Jarvis. M.P. who both spoke briefly and congratulated the club on their outstanding achievements Mr. Sniwdon Ihcn prc settled the keys to the Dublin ('ommu Wily Centre to R eevc Swart who accepted Them on behalf of Hibbert Township. The banquet chairman, Jim Paratchek and Ernie Flem- ing, are to be commended for their fine work in arrang ing such a fine evening. Appreciation was also ex- pressed by the Lions Club to the Dublin and District Ath- letic Association and people of the community for all the help they have given in the past. Fallowing the elegant dinner and the program an evening of dancing was enjoyed by all with music by B.B. and Country. Dr. Susan Friend has just completed her P.N.D. in Veterinary Pathology (Virology) from the University of Saskatche- wan. Dr. A.J. Forman has just completed a year at Research Centers in England and Europe and is now louring Research Centers in Canada and the U,S.,They will he returning to Australia where Dr, Forman will he in charge of an Exotic Disease of Anneals Research Centre in Geelong, Australia. Secretary's report was read by Mrs, Margaret Looby and the treasurer's report by Mrs. Ann Kistner. Mrs. Looby read the cor- respondence received and a special note was made con- cerning an invitation from the St, Patrick's Catholic Women's League in Kinkora to attend their bazaar Sep- tember 29 at 8:00 p.m. in the Kinkora School. The ladies were pleased to announce that the Sunday morning baby sitting service will begin soon with Mrs. Cindy De Kroon in "charge. Volunteers are. needed to help. The League ladies will be going about collecting for the blind soon and there will be a clothing drive held from October 18-22. The clothes may be left at the Church. Also on the schedule of up and coming events is the St. Patrick's Parish Fall Social featuring a fashion show, entertainment, craft and bak- ing table, ticket draw for the quilt, ceramic Christmas tree, ceramic bowl and pitch- er, door prizes and a lunch will be served. This enjoy- able evening will be held on Wednesday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m. in the parish hall, so set this night aside and plan to attend. Mrs. Mary Margaret Van Bakel introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Mrs. Cindy Flanagan, Re- gistered Nurse at the Sea - forth Community Hospital, wife off Ken Flanagan and the mother of two children, Jeffery and Tara, Cindy addressed the ladies on a very vitalsttbject, "Vial for Life". The vial is a small clear pill bottle which con- tains a sheet. of paper on which there is vital..medical information which could save, one's life. On this sheet is your name, address, your doctor's name, the hospital you would go to, and all medication which you are taking and medical history describing specific illnesses. There are enough spaces on this form for four members of a famly. Forms should:be filled out in pencil and in clear block letters so it can be easily read by the ambulance attendants and medical staff. These vials are to be placed on the top shelf on the inside of the refrigerator door and specially designed decal is to be placed on the outside off the\ refrigerator. ff you are wondering why you would put thiss vial in the refrigerator it is the one piece of furniture that is in every household and in case. of fire, flood or wind damage to the house; the refrigerator is usually all in tact. The early to bed and early to rise has become the house- hold rule rather than just a familiar saying. This year the enrolment at St. Patrick's School Dublin totals 195 students. Kindergarten has a total of 30 children and is divided into two classes which are taught by Mrs. Doreen Nogalo. The following are names of those teaching grades one to eight: Mrs. Rita Core. Mrs. Joan McIver, Mrs. Margaret Rowland. Miss Dorothy Dil- lon, Mrs. Catherine McCot- ter. Mrs. Helen Stewart, Mr. Terry Craig and Mr. L.H. Cook, Principal. The Special Education leacher is Mrs. Marybel Edye, the French teacher is Mrs. Rita Lau- waert and the school secre- tary is Mrs. Dorothy Delan- ey. Daily classes begin at 8:55 a.ni. with dismissal at 3:10 p,m, and the buses leave the school al 3:20 p.m. The students have a 40 minute lunch break and two 15 minute recesses. Good Luck to the teaching staff and bus drivers in the coming school year and may all your problems be tittles ones. • Sunday St. Patrick's Parish held a Sun- day Brunch and what a lovely idea. The ladies of the parish all brought a favorite dish or two and this made for a super variety which would make any mouth water. There was an exceptional attendance as the hall was full and everyone spent an enjoyable forenoon. Not only that the majority of the ladies got to go home without doing any dishes. To the ladies of the Catholic Women's Lea- gue executive and a few helpers who were respons- ible for the planning and clean up for this event, the people of the parish wish to say a special thank you for your throughfulnes`s. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Miller and family, St. Jos- eph's were visiting with Mr. and MeS. Fergus Stapleton on Sunday. Ontario Tax Grants for Seniors is a program designed to help offset municipal, school and retail sales taxes and home heating costs for Ontario residents 65 and over. The Property Tax Grant portion, of up to $500 per household, is provided in two instal- ments annually. The first instalment of the '1982 grant, based on 1981 applications, was mailed in the spring. The Ministry of Revenue has just completed the mailing of Property Tax Grant applications which seniors must complete in order to qualify for the final instalment of this grant.
