Congratulations to coaches Art Airdrie and Doug Vincent of the Jays and also Keith Allen and Ken Armstrong of the As on another good season of ball. , The Bantam. girls beat the Varna "B'' team in their first tournament game but lost to a strong Varna "A'' team to eliminate them from further act ion. Over the season these girls had their ups and downs but coaches Bill and Irene Brom- ley deserve a vote of thanks for providing another exciting ball year. Coaches Dave Overboe and John l-gggart took their Ban- tamboys to the tournament in Auburn as unquestionable underdogs. But the team came up tough, losing 16-13 to Holmesvillc..the eventual champs: beating Varna by a 13 to 9 score: and finally edging 'Auburn 19.18 with a five run comeback in the bottom of the seventh to come home with second place. Congratulations to the team on a surprise filled season. The Squirt house league also closed out their season with a round robin tourna- ment. The Yankees coached by Alan Caldwell and Murray Nesbitt edged The Blue Jays •and -their coaches Murray and Ann Adams for third spot. Once again these young- sters provided entertaining and exciting ball and all involved should be thanked. The Pee Wee girls and Midget boys will be playing, their finals next weekend Aug. 28th. Good luck to both teams. In men's slo-pitch Allboro hosted the team from Porter's Hill and squeezed out a 1 run victory. No other results were reported. Allboro will' be playing again Thursday night in Lon• desboro as they play host to Auburn in preparation for a Tuesday August 31st donkey baseball game against Clint- on over 30s in Londesboro. Also featured that night will be a game of sio-pitch between the Blazers and Howsons. As the ball season closes inevitably in Londesboro talk turns to bowling. • The men's league is having their annual meeting tonight Wednesday, August 25 t 8:00 at the Township Shed. Any bowlers in the Londes- boro area wishing to bowl can attend the meeting or give their names to Bill Roy prior to August 31st. - Phone 523-423'. While visiting, Marie received word from the Canadian College of health record administration that she had successfully passed her examination in June. CHEERIO CLUB The Cheerio Club meeting was held at 2 p.m. August 18 at the home of Margaret Good, Roll call was answered with a current event by 10 mem- bers and one visitors, Kaye Longman. The draw was donated by Margaret Good and won by' Dora Shobbrook, Next meeting is September 15 at the home of Mary Longman. The program in- cluded readings by June Fothergill and contests by Tri ----Duizer. Lunch was served by Marg- aret Good, Tri Duizer and June Fothergill: Happy Gang Seniors met on August 3rd with 21 pre- sent. President Jean Scott welcomed all. The minutes of the last meeting were read by secre- tary Isoabef Scanlon and treasurer's report by Marg- aret Taylor. A card of thanks from Margaret and Russell Good was read. A sympathy card is to be sent to Audrey and Bob Thompson, A certificate was received of affiliation with United Seniors of Ontario. 1t is to be framed.
