Last year Mr. Leckie was again elected Reeve of the village. —The Wingham Business College Literary Society will hold its first enter- tainment for the year 1907, Friday, Feb. 8th, at eight p. m. A cordial invitation is extended to all. —Word was received on Wednesday that Mrs. Angus Gilchrist, of Tiverton, bad died suddenly of apoplexy. Mrs. 0. Gilchrist left yesteday afternoon to be present at the funeral. —Charles McGill, late general man- ager of the wrecked Ontario Bank was sentenced to five years in Kingston peni. tentsary for making and signing false returns to the Government. Mr. S. S, Cooper, of Clinton, was in town on Thursday. Mrs. John Haines was visiting with friends in Blyth last week. Mies Slade and Miss Johnston, of Galt, are visiting friends in town. Mr. C. J. Maguire left on Tuesday morning for his home in Edmonton, Alta. Mr. R, S. Sturdy, of O wen Sound was palling on old Wingham friends last week. Mrs. A. M. Bird and children were visiting for a few days with friends at Lakelet. Miss Jean Stewart was visiting for a few days with her sister, Mrs. Harris, at Wroxeter. Mr, Urias Sherk, and daughter, Lily, are visiting relatives and friends at Harrietsville. Mae. Thos. J. Watt, of Mio, Mich., is visiting with old friends in Wingham and Blnevale, Mr. John Martin returned to Cobalt on Monday after a visit with his relatives at Whitechurch. Fay Patterson and John Hanna, of Toronto are visiting at their parental homes in town. Mr. Peter McLaren was at Stratford for a few days attending the funeral of his cousin, the late Mr. McTavish, Mr. Alex, Campbell and son, Howard, were in Stratford for a few days, being called to that city to attend the funeral of an uncle, Mr. McTavish, Mr. Hastings, Inspector of Public Buildings forth° Dominion Government, —Mr. Edward Levy of Clinton was was in town on Thursday, inspecting united in holy bonds of matrimony to i the new post office building. Forrest, formerly of the 2nd line is seriously ill at his home in Brus- sels. A number from here attended the ball at Belgrave, Tuesday night of last week. Mr. Wm, Little bas rented his farm to Mr. W. McMurray who gets posses- sion March let. Mr. Little will move to Belgrave. Jno. and Mrs. M,;Cntoheon and Miss Eveline, of Frobisher, are here on a holiday visit for a few months. It is 7 years since Mr. McCutcheon went West, his wife going two years later. They like the country and have done well.
