The Huron Hurricanes
Aquatic Club gave back to the
Vanastra Recreation Centre
with a donation for the pool.
Some members of the Hurri-
canes and their coach Kristy
Lyon presented facility man-
ager, Lissa Berard with a four -
foot foam log pool toy on Sep-
tember 14.
Lyon said the donation was
made to the rec centre to
encourage children to swim
more. She said the foam logwas
chosen specifically because it is
a toy every child can use.
Last year the team held a
swim-a-thon and raised $3,500
with the money going directly
into the club. Lyon said fund-
raisers like this help keep the
costs of registration and equip -

This year marks the 26th year
of the relationship between the
club and the centre. Berard said
the swim team is a unique place
where children and youth who
aren't interested in traditional
sports can gather.
Over the years Berard said
she has seen a lot of children
who have succeeded outside of
the pool because of their
involvement with the
Hurricanes.

field Community United Church.

wright will be guest speaker and
October 4 will be anniversary Sun-
day and Marybeth Wilson will be
the guest Minister.
Upcoming meetings will be
October 6 the UCW meeting at
7:30 p.m. The Stan Lee Seniors
meet October 7 at 6 p.m. for a pot-
luck supper.

The Stephenson Steps will be
participating in the Run for the
Cure again this year. The run will
take place Octobter 4. If you would
