BIA gets ready for annual Scarecrow Festival Laura Broadley Clinton News Record Get your pie recipes ready and brush up on your scarecrow building skills, the Scarecrow Festi- val is back! Last year the festival was well received and so this will be the second year the Scarecrow Festi- val comes back to Clinton. The festival will bring some of the much -loved festivities back to the town along with new activities and contests, the chili cook -off is returning and new this year is live entertainment. Partici- pants are asked to build a scarecrow and bring it to Millenium Park. Judging takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snip- pety the Clown and friends will be in Library Park, which is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Clinton. 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Fol- lowing the positive response from last year the chili cook -off will make a return. Local businesses and community groups will be cooking chili for you to taste and judge. Tickets are $5 to have your say. 1 p.m. Pie eating contest. 2 p.m. Prepare your best recipe for apple or Dutch apple pie and bring it to Millenium Park for your chance to be named the winner of the "Best pie in Central Huron" contest. If you're really feeling the spirit of the day and want to incorporate your home, just decorate it in a fall/scarecrow theme and send your name, address and photos to clinton.cen- tralhuronbia@gmail.com. Children are also eligi- ble to win a colouring contest by colouring the scarecrow beforehand and submitting it to school to be judged at the festival.
