HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News Record, 2015-10-21, Page 1616 News Record • Wednesday, October 21, 2015 Memory and aging program comes to Clinton in November The Alzheimer Society of Huron County is pleased to offer the Memory and Aging Program in Huron County for the first time. The Memory and Aging Pro- gram, developed at Baycrest Hospital's Neuropsychology and Cognitive Health Program, is for anyone experiencing nor- mal age-related changes in memory or anyone interested in learning more about this topic. Adults of all ages are wel- come although the focus is on seniors. Participants do not need a doctor's referral and do not have to be clients of the Alzheimer Society to register for this program. The Memory and Aging pro- gram describes what memory is, how it changes with age, and factors that can impact mem- ory for the better or for the worse. Participants learn to Identify and implement lifestyle changes aimed at improving memory. Practical memory strategies are reviewed and practiced to improve your abil- ity to remember everyday things such as names, location of items, and things you intend to do. Equally important, the Memory and Aging Program seeks to help build confidence in your own memory ability. The Memory and Aging Pro- gram consists of five weekly, two hour sessions beginning on Nov 9 in Clinton. Registration for the course is required as it is limited to 15 participants. With its open living areas and flexible floor plan, the home would be ideal for either a growing family or for empty nesters. The den, just off the sky lit foyer, is particularly attractive, with a sloping ceiling, bay window and a view of the front garden. If the homeowners need a third bedroom, this room could easily serve that purpose.
