Radars win season opener
On Oct 9 the Clinton
Radars captured a
6-2 victory over the Milverton
4 -Wheel Drives.
Leading the way with a hat
trickwas Stratford native Ryan
Murphy. Murphy also gathered
two assists to complete a five
point night
Close behind Murphy was
Tyler Doig with two goals and
one assist Mitch Vandergunst
added a single marker to round
out the goal scoring. Other
point getters were Luke Vick
and Sean Consittwith two
assists each. Picking up one
assist each were Brendan Dale,
Taylor Gosset and Kurds
Bartliff
Milverton opened the scor-
ing only 19 seconds into the
first period as Dennis Dewar
beat Clinton goalie Marc
Nother on the first shot of the
game.
At 5:46 of the initial period
Murphytied it up 1-1. At 13:35
Doig sent Clinton into the lead
with a power play goal on a
beautiful high rising shot from
the slot area with Bartliff and
Joey's Corner

The Radars added two more
goals in the second frame to
increase its lead to 4-1 with
Doig and Murphy doing the
scoring.
In the third period the
Radars outscored the Drives'
two goals to one to make the
final score 6-2.
Nother played a solid game
in goal as he stopped 24 shots
while the Radars peppered the
Drives' goalie with 51 shots.
The Radars picked up 12 min-
utes in penalties while Milver-
ton had 8 minutes.
All in all it was a fast paced
game for the Radar's home
opener.
Radars defeat Seaforth 8-1
On Oct 16, the Clinton
Radars outscored and out-
played Seaforth to the tune of
8-1.
The Radars broke out on top
early at 5:05 of the first period
as DerykWhitehead found a
gaping wide open net for an
easy tap in with assists from
Tyler Bryson and Shayne
McClure.
Two minutes later while on
the powerplay, Kyle Provily,
with help from Vick and Doig,
made it 2-0 at 7:40.
At 15:48 Doig found line
mate Vandergunst wide open
in the slot area and Vander-
gunst drilled a shot over the
Seaforth net minder to increase
the Radars' lead to 3-0.
Doig capped off the first
period scoring at 17:22 as his
hard slap shot found the upper
left comer with some excellent
teamwork from his wingers
Murphy and Bartliff.
In the second stanza Sea -
forth and the Radars traded
goals. At 5:06 Bartliff walked
right in from the left faceoff

goal at 16:49 to spoil the shut
out of Nother.
In the third period the
Radars added three more goals
off the sticks of Mike Jarmuth,
Doig and Vick to make the final
score 8-1.
Leading the way was Doig
with two goals and three
assists. Nother played another
strong game in the net as he
stopped 27 shots to record his
second win of the season. The
Radars had 43 shots on the
Seaforth goal.
Radars blank Tillsonburg 9-0
On Oct. 17 the Radars trav-
elled
ravelled to Tillsonburg to take on
the Mavericks. Itwas no contest
as Clinton net minder Mother
pitched a shutout Itwas his
first shutout in his first year of
senior A hockey. He faced 22
shots in the 9-0 romping.
The Radars took advantage
of every Tillsonburg miscue in
the win. Itwas Tillsonburg that
knocked Clinton out of last
year's playoffs.
The Radars scored one in the
first, four in the second and
four more in the third period.
Goal scorers were Murphy with
a hat trick, Bartliffwithtwo,
Doig with two, and single
markers went to Brenden Dale
and Consitt Assists went to
Vandergunst and Consittwith
two each. Bryson, Gossett and
Jarmuth had one assist each.
When the final buzzer
sounded Bartliff led all Clinton
scorers with five points, closely
followed by Murphy and Doig
with four points each.
Clinton's next opponents are
this weekend as they travel to
Petrolia on Oct 23 and Tavis-
tock on Oct 24.
The next home game is on
Oct 30 against Tillsonburg.
