The tireless effort of the eight CIB committee mem- bers resulted in a mark of 78 per cent, just 4 percentage points under what would be a five bloom rating. Committee co-chair Marg Anderson said she is proud of the community because membership doubled and they were given five per cent higher this year compared to last. The judges base their eval- uation on eight criteria in six sections. Among others, the judges noted the following: • For the first section, tidiness, the judges observed that the commu- nity had very little litter is both urban and rural areas. They also noticed that unkempt yards were mini- mal and hardly noticeable. They recommended that more garbage and recycling containers be made available. • They were impressed with the environmental action happening through- out the municipality. The Ginn farm, Windmill Lake Wake and Eco Park, Hullett Wildlife Area and Hullett School were highlighted. • The CNR School on Wheels and the Kildonan House, where the judges stayed, showcased the unique heritage of the area. • Central Huron demon- strated excellent tree and forestry management, with special noting of reforesta- tion efforts evident at parks, Hullett school and Wind- mill Lake. The arboretum at Woodlands golf course impressed the judges because of the diversity of trees and shrubs. • Good floral representa- tion in parks, rural and business areas. A special mention was given to Windmill Lake Wake and Eco Park. In the judges' evaluation they said the energy and eco aware- ness of the owners was "inspiring': In the evaluation the judges said, "Central Huron is blessed with many assets. From our perspective, the citizens of Central Huron are its greatest."
