Radars topple Royals on PJ toss night
Joey's Corner
Joe Livermore
In
Clinton on Nov. 20
the Radars scored six
unanswered goals to defeat
the Tavistock Royals on their
annual pajama toss night.
The big winners, of
course, were the needy chil-
dren and the Christmas
Bureau who graciously
accepted all of pajamas.
There were well over 100
pajamas tossed onto the ice
after the Radars first goal
scored by Tyler Doig in the
second period at 14:58.
Tavistock opened the
scoring at 14:12 of the first
period with Greg Virgo beat-
ing the Clinton goalie on a
slapper from the slot area.
Nother had no chance as he
was screened in front of the
net. Less than a minute later
at 15:03 Paul Thompson of
the Royals gave the visitors a
2-0 lead.
The first period ended 2-0
as the Royals outplayed the
locals at every stage,

outshooting the Radars by a
wide margin of 15-6.
In the second period the
Radars took over the game
as they came out playing a
much better game. After kill-
ing off three penalties in a
row and at one stage playing
two men shorthanded, the
Radars leading scorer Doig
produced a barrage of PIs to
fly onto the ice. Doig broke
in from the left hand circle
and beat the Royals net -
minder on a low hard wrist
shot. Sean Consitt and Kur-
tis Bartliff helped set off the
toss.
Three minutes later, at
17:18 on the powerplay, it
was Reid Oliver tying up the
score at 2-2.
After some excellent pass-
ing by Doig and Jordan Cur-
rie, Reid was able to slap the
disc into the top corner of
the net.
In the third period it was
all Radars as they scored
four more unanswered
goals. At 12:29 hard working
Bartliff was able to jam in
the puck from the crease
area to give Clinton their
first lead of the game. Kyle
Provily earned the assist on
the play.
Two minutes later at
14:19, Doig scored his sec-
ond goal of the game. His
high shot found the upper
right hand corner with
Shane McClure and Taylor
Gosset earning the helpers.
It was Doig's 13th goal of the
season.
Two empty net goals
rounded out the scoring.
Ryan Murphy with his
league leading 16th goal and
Currie were the recipients of
the easy markers.
Nother played another
strong game in goal as he
lowered his goals against
average to 1.72.
The Radars next home
games are not until Dec. 4
against Tillsonburg and Dec.
5 against Petrolia. Both
games are 8:30 p.m. starts.
Anyone wishing to follow
Radar hockey out of town,
they will be travelling to
Petrolia on Nov 27 and to
Milverton on Nov 28. Both
games start at 8:30 p.m.
See you there.
