The annual Association of Ontario Road Supervi- sors tradeshow was held last June in Exeter. As part of the Huron County Road Supervisors Association's mandate any money raised goes directly back into the community. The 2015 AORS trade- show executive chose com- munity groups and on Nov. 12 presented cheques to three local charities and organizations. First, the executive pre- sented a cheque to Cana- dian Tire's Jumpstart pro- gram for $10,000. The donation to Jumpstart was done in memory of Roger Cunningham, who passed away last March. Cunningham was a road supervisor for Central Huron and member of the HCRSA. His family said everyone knew he was a sports enthu- siast who was very active in the community. The executive committee also presented a cheque to the Ontario Student Nutri- tion Program for $28,000. The OSNP provides breakfast or snacks to all the schools in Huron County for anyone who needs it. Community man- ager Nancy Fisher said the program isn't just for stu- dents who come from low- income homes but for stu- dents who also need breakfast or snacks that are nutritious. Government funding is only 15 per cent of the pro- gram's budget so donations make up the difference, ensuring that students are getting nutrient -dense foods. It is important to rec- ognize the difference healthy food makes to stu- dents' performance, Fisher added. The last donation was made to the Huron County Christmas Bureau. Trish Harris said it is 100 per cent funded by donations. There are drop boxes open throughout the county.
