Forty-eight thousand
dollars can go a long way in
helping a community.
The annual Association
of Ontario Road Supervi-
sors tradeshow was held
last June in Exeter.
As part of the Huron
County Road Supervisors
Association's mandate any
money raised goes directly
back into the community.
The 2015 AORS trade-
show executive chose com-
munity groups and on Nov.
12 presented cheques to
three local charities and
organizations.
First, the executive pre-
sented a cheque to Cana-
dian Tire's Jumpstart pro-
gram for $10,000. Harry
Bell, regional manager of
the Jumpstart program,

tember, Bell said.
The donation to Jumpstart
was done in memory of
Roger Cunningham, who
passed away last March.
Cunningham was a road
supervisor for Central Huron
and member of the HCRSA.
His family said everyone
knew he was a sports enthu-
siast who was very active in
the community.
The executive committee
also presented a cheque to
the Ontario Student Nutri-
tion Program for $28,000.
The OSNP provides
breakfast or snacks to all
the schools in Huron
County for anyone who
needs it. Community man-
ager Nancy Fisher said the
program isn't just for stu-
dents who come from low-
income homes but for stu-
dents who also need
breakfast or snacks that are
nutritious.
Government funding is
only 15 per cent of the pro-
gram's budget so donations
make up the difference,
ensuring that students are
getting nutrient -dense
foods. It is important to rec-
ognize the difference
healthy food makes to stu-
dents' performance, Fisher
added.
The last donation was
made to the Huron County
Christmas Bureau. Trish
Harris said it is 100 per cent
funded by donations. There
are drop boxes open
throughout the county.
There are five bureaus in
the county that provide
