Dime prevention
is a shared
commitment
in Ontario
Huron County - The week of Nov.
1- 7 is "Crime Prevention Week"
in Ontario.
This year's theme for Crime
Prevention Week is: "Work-
ing Together to Improve Com-
munity Safety and Well -Being
- A Shared Commitment in
Ontario." The theme encour-
ages combined efforts of police,
government and communi-
ties to work together to address
concerns, create strategies and
decrease crime in Ontario.
The OPP identifies the impor-
tance of strong community
partnerships and how they are
essential in creating effective
crime prevention reduction strat-
egies.
The OPP would like to remind
the public of the highly effec-
tive community safety programs
that help keep families in Ontario
communities safe including:
Crime Prevention Through Envi-
ronmental Design (CPTED), Safe -
Guard Ontario, the OPP KIDS Pro-
gram, and Lock It or Lose It, just
to name a few.
The OPP will be encouraging
crime prevention strategies using
social media. Information, facts
and tips will be posted on both
the OPP Twitter and OPP Face -
book pages.

ATV and stereo
equipment stolen
Central Huron - OPP officers
are currently investigating the
theft of an Arctic Cat ATV stolen
from a drive shed located on Tel-
ephone Road in Central Huron.
Sometime between 12 p.m. on
Oct. 25 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 26
those responsible attended the
farm property and forced entry
into the drive shed through a
man door.
The suspects stole a Sony ste-
reo system consisting of a CD
changer, two tower speak-
ers, a subwoofer, a receiver and
approximately 300 compact
discs. The suspects also stole a
dark, green 2007 Arctic Cat ATV,
400 cc engine. The 4X4 ATV had
a modified radiator on the top
rack with a wooden rack on the
rear.
The ATV is valued at an esti-
mated $2,000 and the stereo
system is worth approximately
$500.

Test drive ends
abruptly
Goderich - Police have charged
an 18 -year-old driver from
Goderich with Stunt Driving.
On Oct. 23 at 11:37 a.m. a wit-
ness observed the driver of a car
driving very quickly within the
Goderich District Collegiate Insti-
tute (GDCI) parking lot. The driver
then pulled onto Bennett Street
and proceeded to "fish tail" in an
erratic manner out of the park-
ing lot. Once onto the roadway
the driver sped off travelling west
on Bennett Street at a high rate
of speed. A short while later the
driver and vehicle was spotted
travelling once again at a high
rate of speed on Bennett Street.
At 12:37 p.m. an OPP officer spot-
ted the suspect vehicle travelling
northbound on Suncoast Drive.
Upon speaking with the young
driver it was teamed the driver had
the vehicle out on a test drive from
an auto dealership in Exeter.
The accused now has a court date
and an automatic seven day driv-
er's licence suspension and car
was impounded for a week.
