Diesel Mechanic

Hensall District Co-operative Inc. is a progressive co-operative in its 77th year of business and
continues to grow. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Maintenance
Team working out of our Hensall location.
Position Summary
The "Diesel Mechanic" will report to the Maintenance Manager and be able to work with minimal
supervision. The successful individual must be conscientious and work in a safe manner. It is
expected that the Diesel Mechanic will perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on
all HDC mobile equipment including diesel trucks, forklifts, skid steers, rail king, loaders, etc. You
must be able to successfully complete work orders, maintain inventory of adequate parts and keep
accurate electronic records.
Position Criteria
The successful individual will have the ability to organize their work load in a safe and efficient
manner in a fast paced team environment. You must be coordinated and have superior mechanical
ability, along with good organizational, communication and problem solving skills. Experience
servicing diesel equipment is required; knowledge of computer software is considered a plus.
Education: Mechanic's License
Experience: Two years' experience servicing diesel equipment.

Duties
• Daily data entry
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing process, reconciliations
and financial statement preparation
• Analyze accounts, job cost reports, ledgers, and other accounting
documents for accuracy
• Prepare and remit HST, WSIB monthly and Payroll Deduction bi-
weekly
• Issue purchase orders
• Verifying invoice to purchase orders
• Filing of invoices, purchase orders and monthly billing
• Answering company phone when required
You must have
• Ability to deal effectively with people exercising courtesy, tact, and
discretion
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Computer knowledge with Word, Excel, and Accpac accounting
software would be an asset
• Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion when dealing with
confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Must have the skills and knowledge to keep all lines of communication
open within the office, and with external sources
• Strong analytical, organization, and problem solving skills
• Excellent command of the English Language both written and verbal
• Brings a positive and pleasant attitude to the office environment
• Construction experience is an asset but not a requirement
