On May 16 a group of like-
minded citizens took up the
task of cleaning up Black's Point
Beach. Sponsored by the Cen-
tral Huron Communities in
Bloom Committee this is the
second year of this event. This
one-hour event was initiated by
Communities in Bloom as a
way to promote environmen-
talism, the naturalized beach at
Black's Point and the protection
of drinkingwater.
The group picked up over 10
bags of garbage including items
such as household waste, fire-
crackers, diapers, tires and
paint cans. Residents are
reminded that dumping of gar-
bage at the beach is prohibited,
and that if caught, a fine could
be laid.
This is one of the many
events that the Communities in
Bloom Committee have organ-
ized for this year.
The community colours for
this year are red and white. Res-
idents are asked to at a bit of
these two colours into your
garden.
Committee members will
be choosing special gardens
of the week though -out the
summer months. These flow-
erbeds will be included on the
CIB Facebook page and be
given a sign to place within
their gardens.
The judging for the 2015
season will be July 6, 7, and 8.
Volunteers are always wel-
come to help with CIB, more
