Dave Whyte and Jean Perdue took first place with 45pts, followed by Murray Perdue and Alec Ostrom with 41pts, in 3rd place was a tie with 35 pts and they were Ken Pollock and Doug Mills and Steve Lefaive and Mary - Helen McLachlan and 4th place was Eric Wheeler and Cheryl Trewartha with 26pts, The Club will meet March 24th for their last night of club play and the end of the year din- ner will be March 31st. The card party held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Bruce - field was well attended with 9 tables in play. Prior to the cards Dorothy McGregor served a lovely ham and scalloped potato dinner with all the trimmings. She also had cake for dessert and how appropriate for the evening as Happy Birth- day was sung to Donna Col- lins turning 65 that day. Thanks to Dorothy once again for the lovely dinner. High Man was John McKenzie and low man was Mack Webster, high lady Mona Alderdice, low lady Mary Fotheringham, lone hands went to Ken McClure and draws went to Bob Foth- eringham, Ethel Walker, Joyce Wilson, Stu Wilson, Nancy Turner, Doug Car- wright and Jim Broadfoot, Next card party will be Thursday March 26 at 7:30pm. Fred McGregor explained most of the pro- ceeds go towards the Tril- lium Camp which helps Children sick with cancer. Everyone welcome! Greeter was Doug Cooper, reader Joyce Hummel and pianist Londesborough news Brenda Radford Special to the News Record ET CETERA Women of the community attended the Londesbor- ough UCW meeting on March 16th. The group held their World Day of Prayer Service that evening written by the women of the Baha- mas and a Bahamian style lunch was served at the end of the evening. The Outreach Committee of Londesborough United has set up food donation boxes in various spots throughout the church. The hope is that congregants will be generous in helping to replenish the shelves at the local food bank. Your dona- tions will be received for the next two Sundays. A special time during the morning service on March 22nd at Londesborough United will be designated for a Covenanting Service for Rev. Terry Fletcher. The official board of Londesborough United will meet as a whole on Tues- day, March 24th at 7:30 P.M. This will be the first meeting for members of 2015 and the format has changed somewhat. Two teams from Mr. Coups class at Hullett Cen- tral attended a Robotics Challenge sponsored by D & D Automation in Stratford on March 11th. The school purchased three Lego robot- ics kits and the Grade 7 & 8's have been learning how to program them for the competition. Sunday March 22 there will be one more Simple Fare luncheon step. Sam Dougherty has spent several months of the past five winters in Mexico. A skilled woodworker Sam becomes part of a crew for "Castaway Kids": "Castaway Kids" came into existence 10 years ago in San Carlos in the northern part of Mexico, 300 miles south of Nogales. They will be bowling at the Zurich Bowling Lanes Friday March 27th at 7pm. Join the team or pledge a donation. Contact Colin Snyder if you can do either. The Breath of Spring is coming up at the Seaforth isolated by great distances from neighbours and even small towns with no transportation. The original objective of the group was to raise funds to send children to school, to purchase school uniforms, Agriplex Wednesday April 15. Doors open at 6pm and there will be dessert and a silent auction. Speakers start at 7pm. you may get tickets from Mary Fother- ingham. More info to fol- low. With Easter fast approach- ing Palm Sunday is March 29th and the Good Friday Service will be held April 3 at 1lam in the Brucefield Community United Church. On Easter Sunday there will be a "Sunrise Service" at 8am and an Easter Breakfast at 8:30 followed by the regular Service at 10:30am. shoes, book and bags of school supplies. Sam reports that the group now has financed the education of 100 children, including some at the university level.
