During the month of
March, Dietitians of Can-
ada and partners like the
Huron County Health Unit
will be running the Eating 9
to 5! campaign.
Huron County residents
can get online help with
five common workplace
eating challenges: rushed
mornings, lunchtime,
meetings and events, the
mid-day slump and com-
muter cravings.
"Research shows 45% of
Canadians find it a chal-
lenge to eat healthy meals
and snacks at work," says
Public Health Dietitian
Scholastica Madu. "The
Eating 9 to 5! campaign
gives you healthy eating
tips, recipes and practical
solutions to your healthy
eating questions."
Madu has many tips for
the five common challenges.
To beat the mid-day slump,
for example, you can:
• Get physical by standing
up to take phone calls or do
some stretches
• Grab a small, healthy
snack to fuel your brain and
give you energy.
• Drink some water,
since staying hydrated
helps get rid of that sleepy
feeling.

"Eating well at work can
boost concentration, pro-
ductivity and vitality," says
Madu. "It can also improve
overall health, reducing
missed days of work. These

When snow falls on the
ground it may be easy to for-
get the snow will soon melt.
When snow melts, water lev-
els rise in local streams and
rivers and that water starts to
flow at a fast rate. Educators at
a local conservation authority
are visiting schools this month
to teach students to avoid thin
ice and high water.
Ausable Bayfield Conser-
vation offers the Spring Water
Awareness Program (SWAP)
free -of -charge for the tenth
consecutive year. "This pro-
gram has taught thousands of
local students to stay away
from high and fast -flowing
water and to avoid ice, which
may be thin," said Denise
Iszczuk, Conservation Edu-
cator with Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authority
(ABCA). Fifteen of 24 water-
shed elementary schools,
with 2,787 students, took part
in the program in 2014.
