On March 2 members of the Asso-
ciation of Bikers for Awareness, Train-
ing and Education (ABATE) Huron
Perth Chapter 14 gathered in Clinton
and donated $1,000 to Autism Ontario
- Huron Perth Chapter.
ABATE is committed to helping
local charities and donates annually
to the Children's Hospital in London.
The association has nine chapters
located throughout Ontario and 183
members in total.
Autism Ontario - Huron Perth
Chapter is committed to ensuring that
each individual with Autism Spec-
trum Disorder is provided the means
to achieve quality of life as a respected
member of society. The Huron Perth
chapter is one of 25 chapters in the
province.
As treasurer of Autism Ontario -
Huron Perth Chapter, Doris Barkley,
states, "this donation was unsolicited
and therefore it demonstrates to me
that there is increased awareness in
the community about autism, its
increased incidence and the need for
increased supports for those affected
by autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Autism is a lifelong journey. A child
with autism will become an adult with
autism. ABATE's support is greatly
appreciated."
On March 2 ABATE Huron Perth
Chapter 14 also donated a bicycle to
Community Support for Families
Huron County.
