Association of Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education donates to the community Tara Ostner The Clinton News Record On March 2 members of the Asso- ciation of Bikers for Awareness, Train- ing and Education (ABATE) Huron Perth Chapter 14 gathered in Clinton and donated $1,000 to Autism Ontario - Huron Perth Chapter. ABATE is committed to helping local charities and donates annually to the Children's Hospital in London. The association has nine chapters located throughout Ontario and 183 members in total. Autism Ontario - Huron Perth Chapter is committed to ensuring that each individual with Autism Spec- trum Disorder is provided the means to achieve quality of life as a respected member of society. The Huron Perth chapter is one of 25 chapters in the province. As treasurer of Autism Ontario - Huron Perth Chapter, Doris Barkley, states, "this donation was unsolicited and therefore it demonstrates to me that there is increased awareness in the community about autism, its increased incidence and the need for increased supports for those affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Autism is a lifelong journey. A child with autism will become an adult with autism. ABATE's support is greatly appreciated." On March 2 ABATE Huron Perth Chapter 14 also donated a bicycle to Community Support for Families Huron County. "Weird & Wonderful" is this year's theme for March Break at the Clinton library Tara Ostner The Clinton News Record March Break is upon us and the Clinton library has planned a variety of fun activi- ties for the much -anticipated holiday. The theme of this year's March Break is "Weird & Wonderful" and the librarians encour- age children of all ages and their families to pop by. The library will be offering the following activities: Munsch Around Town Scavenger Hunt - March 14-22 Amazing Maze - March 14-22 Make 'n' Take Crafts - March 14-22 Munsch Story Time - March 20 from 10:15 until 11:15 a.m. Mad Science presents "Robots 101" - Marchl9 from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. (regis- tration for this event is required) For more information regarding the activities people are asked to contact the library at519-482-3673.
