Dance Techniques in Clinton presents annual competitive showcase
On February 21 the competi-
tive team from Dance Tech-
niques in Clinton presented its
annual competitive showcase at
the Huron Country Playhouse in
Grand Bend.
There are 34 competitive team
members from Clinton, Goder-
ich, Brussels, Seaforth, Exeter,
Blyth, Wingham and Bayfield.
The team will be traveling to five
competitions this year and will
participate in numerous com-
munity performances. Team
members range in age from 5 to
18 years old and train about 5 to
15+ hours per week. They pre-
sent acts in Jazz, Tap, Acro, Hip
Hop, Contemporary/Lyrical,
and Musical theatre.
Some of their choreogra-
phers have been in So You
Think You Can Dance Canada,
Cirque du Soleil's Quidam, a
number of Stratford Festival
shows, and Much Music Video
awards show (performing for
Marianus Trench). The team
members themselves are also
quite accomplished. Some
have been accepted to the
National Circus School's sum-
mer Preparatory Program
(home of Cirque du Soleil),
others have qualified as final-
ists at the Western Fair and
others have been winners of
local talent shows including
the Walkerton Arts Festival,
Goderich Summerfest and var-
ious local Youth Talent
searches.
