A farewell to Rev. Colin Snyder and family

The Stan Lee Club met June 3
with 14 members in attend-
ance. They enjoyed a potluck
supper and some old Tyme
Music with Harvey Smith
and Devon Martene on the vio-
lin. The next meeting will be
Septtember 2 with a potluck
supper at 6 p.m.
The Worlds Crokinole
Championship was held in
Tavistock on Saturday, June 6.
There were some members
from the Varna Club as well
as many others. Cor Vander-
hoven from the Varna Club
placed second in the rec divi-
sion. Congrats to him.
Brothers Jason and Ray-
mond Beierling placed second
in the doubles. Raymond also
placed second in the singles
and he was first for having the
most twenties.
Brothers Rex and Tom John-
ston placed third in the dou-
bles. Congrats to all players.
Players come from all over the
world!
There is a celebration of
water weekend coming up
sponsored by the Bayfield Blue
Community Project. Friday,
June 19 in the afternoon the
Bike for Water leaves Clan
Gregor Square at 1:30 p.m. (35
kilometres).
Friday night at sunset
(weather permitting) there will
be a film, Exxpedition. It is pro-
duced by Jennifer Pate who is
an adventurist, filmmaker and
environmentalist
Saturday at 2 p.m. there is a
Walk for Watee at the
Varna Complex. Admission to
all events is by donation only.
There will be a farewell lunch
for the Rev. Colin Snyder, his
wife Heather and family on
Sunday, June 21 following the
Church service. Everyone
welcome!
A congregational potluck
picnic will be held at the Varna
Pavilion on June 28 following
the Church service also there at
10:30 a.m. Rain location will be
Brucefield Community United
Church. Hot and cold drinks
supplied. Please bring your
own dishes, cutlery and
your favourite dish.
Brucefield Community
Unted Church summer camp
will be held August 4-7 from 9
a.m. to 12 noon for ages eight to
12. There will be a $5 fee
per child. For more information

Progressive Farm Safety Day
to be held July 7. This is their
third year for doing this for the
children in the community. The
age range is seven to 12. They
are looking for volunteers for
group leaders registration,
lunch and a photographer. Any
students needing volun-
teer hours are welcome. Any-
one interested contact farm-
safety4kids@tcc.on.ca

An update on the Huron
Centennial School recent fund-
raiser: The e -waste collection
occurred last month was a great
success. There was 8.83 tonnes
collected, which generated
$1633.55. All this money will
go towards the new playground
equipment
The students are doing a fun/
fitness walk this month where
they are very confident they
will raise all the funds for the
newplayground equipment
The community is collect-
ing for upcoming weddings
this summer and fall. Steph-
anie Taylor's (daughter of
Shirley and the late Dan Tay-
lor) wedding is August 15.
Rommert Steenbeek's (son of
Sjoulcje and Klaas Steenbeek)
wedding is August 15. John
Miller's (son of Marg Miller
and the late Dave Miller) wed-
ding is September 26 and
Jason Beierling's (son of
Joan and Wayne Beierling)
wedding is October 3. If you
would like to donate please give
to Debbie Rathwell by July 15.
