The Rural Response for
Healthy Children is kicking
off the tenth year of Kin-
deroo in Huron County.
Kinderoo is a school
readiness program for chil-
dren ages three to five,
which originated back in
2005 as a replacement pro-
gram for School's Cool. The
program was developed by
Julie Talbot, to help ease
the transition from home to
Kindergarten. The original
logo was designed by Julie's
daughter, Holly Clarke, and
was replaced this year with
a new logo to commemo-
rate the tenth anniversary.
Originally offered in only
two locations, the program
has now grown to four loca-
tions (Goderich, Wingham,
Clinton and Exeter) with six
full classrooms set to start
July 7.
"Over the past ten years, I
have seen the Kinderoo
program change and grow
to continuously meet the
changing needs of our
community. I am
impressed with how the
program has been man-
aged and facilitated. I am
happy to see that Rural
Response for Healthy Chil-
dren continues on with the
good work they do and that
they continue to meet the
needs of families in Huron
County," said Julie Talbot
MSW, RSW.
Kinderoo is dedicated to
providing parents and chil-
dren a positive first introduc-
tion to the school environ-
ment. With this initial
positive experience, parents
are more likely to take an
active role in their children's
education. As well, the expo-
sure to the structure and
routines of the school envi-
ronment will foster a sense
of confidence in the children
as they approach their first
day of school.
Kinderoo's philosophy
is grounded in children
having fun and learning
through play. The pro-
gram supports and
strengthens a child's self-
awareness, confidence
and self-esteem. These
attributes aid in the tran-
sition from home and
increases a child's success
in school.
Not only does Kinderoo
provide junior and senior
kindergarten children
with an opportunity to
experience what kinder-
garten will be like but also
provides college and uni-
versity students an oppor-
tunity to start working
towards their career goals.
Rural Response for
Healthy Children has had
the honour of having
many college and univer-
sity students with remark-
able knowledge and skills
employed in the Kinderoo
program. These students
have played a large part in
building this program into
something so many fami-
lies want their children to
be a part of.
Over the past 10 years,
Kinderoo has had 800
children graduate from
this valuable program.
This summer 102 children
will graduate from the
Kinderoo school readiness
program. It has grown to
become one of Rural
Response for Healthy
Children's well-known
and valued programs. It is
beneficial not only for the
children but for parents
and teachers too.

A 25 -year-old driver from
Guelph will have to attend
court in Goderich after she
was arrested for impaired
driving.
On June 5, 2015 at approxi-
mately 10:10 p.m. a Huron
County Ontario Provin-
cial Police (OPP) officer
observed the driver of a
Buick sedan make a wide
turn onto Huron Road at
the west end of Clinton. The
officer followed the Buick
westbound on Huron Road
and watched as the vehicle
swerved over the fog line
and centre line on several
occasions.
The officer stopped the
vehicle at the intersection
of Huron Road and Falls
Road to check on the con-
dition of the driver as it was
suspected the driver may
have been impaired.
Upon speaking with the
driver the officer observed
an open beer can in the
vehicle. Upon further inves-
tigation the investigating
officer observed the driver
to be displaying several
signs that she was impaired
by alcohol.
The driver was placed under
arrest for Impaired Driving
and was then transported to
the Exeter OPP Detachment
for breath tests. She pro-
vided two samples of her
breath to a qualified Intox-
ilizer Technician and both
of her tests were above the
legal limit.
As a result, 25 -year-old
Jade Biglow from Guelph
has been charged with
Impaired Driving & Drive
Motor Vehicle — over 80 mil-
ligrams of alcohol. She now
has a court appearance
scheduled for the Ontario
Court of Justice Goderich
on July 6, 2015. She also
received an automatic 90

sion and her motor vehicle
has been impounded for
