Lawrence Beane to retire
at the end of August
Laura Broadley
Clinton News Record
Numbers have always
meant something to Law-
rence Beane. After working
with them for 50 years at
Lawrence Beane Financial
Services, he decided it's time
to hang up his hat at the age
of 75. His last day will be
August 28, 2015.
Lawrence and his wife
moved to Huron County at
the urging of his brother, he
had a brief stint in farming
before deciding to go back to
the numbers.
Lawrence was out of a job
at that time but that didn't
slow him down.
"If you can't find a job, you
create one," he said.
And that's exactly what he
did. In 1965 Lawrence
opened up his taxation busi-
ness and ran it out of his
home. In 1995 he expanded

to incorporate investments
and moved to Rattenbury
Street.
The very first clients in
Clinton have stuck with him
over the past 50 years and
Lawrence said he is grateful
to be in such a community of
people.
Just as his clients have
been dedicated to him he
returns the favour. After his
clients have passed away he
does the final tax return for
free. It's his way of helping to
relieve some of the stress on
family members, he said.
Lawrence has taken his
finance skills to help out the
local 4-H and the Lions Club
in Goderich where he lives.
In the process he has be rec-
ognized with numerous ded-
ication awards.
As Lawrence's career in
finance comes to a close he
wants to thank his clients for
putting their trust in him
over the years. His taxation
clients will be taken care of
by Vodden, Bender & See-
bach, LLC and his invest-
ment clients will now be
handled by Glen Steinson of
Bayshore Financial
Management.
Test drive your creative side
Huron County residents
can "test drive their creative
side" through a new series of
introductory art classes.
The art class series offers
participants over 20 different
classes to choose from, cov-
ering a wide range of artistic
disciplines including: paint-
ing, theatre, dance, music,
clay, mosaic, felting, lantern
making, encaustic and
printmaking.
All of the classes were
designed with the beginner
in mind and have a registra-
tion fee of just $20 each
(includes all materials), with
the hopes of making it easier
for everyone to have a
chance to participate and try
something new.
"We recognized that cost
and time required can be
barriers to taking art classes,
so all of the classes in the
series have the same low
registration fee and none of
them are more than an eight
hour time commitment,"
said Rick Sickinger, cultural
development officer with the
County of Huron.
"This series of classes is
really about encouraging
everyone, regardless of pre-
vious experience, to have
some fun and explore differ-
ent artistic fields and media
without having to worry
about cost, time or skill
level."
The "Test Drive Your Crea-
tive Side" series is produced
by Huron Arts & Heritage
Network and the County of
Huron Cultural Services
Department along with part-
nering arts organizations:
Art aRound Town, Blyth East
Side Dance, Blyth Festival,
Elizabeth's Art Gallery,
Goderich Celtic Roots Festi-
val, Goderich Little Theatre,
Imagine Huron and Worth
Their Salt.
Special thanks to the
Ontario Trillium Foundation
for providing funding sup-
port for the project.

mation can be found at
