The Bayfield Optimists were given the go-ahead to apply for a grant through the Hydro One Power Play program. If the application is successful it will be for $11,000 to go towards new equipment for older chil- dren. The project won't affect the main structure currently in place. Council did not approve the grant application before it was submitted because the dead- line was on a time constraint, which required the submission before it could be approved through the normal process. "We want to partner with this club and any other community stakeholder in Bluewater. We wanted to do what we could to accommodate timelines," said CAO Gary Long. There will be no financial impact on the municipality, he added. The washrooms for the Square won't be readyuntil the summer of next year. The location of the washrooms has not been confirmed but the municipality is proposing that it be built near the playground and splash pad. This location would be signifi- cantly closer to municipal ser- vices than the other proposed location near the pump house. A Trillium Grant of $45,000, $15,000 from the Bayfield Lions Club and $15,000 from Opti- mist will cover the project budget of $75,000. The building will be broken into one washroom and two storage rooms for the farmers market and facilities department.
