If you want to transport
yourself to another time,
another place, without leaving
Huron County, then your des-
tination should be DaVinci
Ristorante &Art Gallery.
Carlos Murguia and his
partner, Doug Marr, moved
up to Bayfield eight years
ago and opened DaVinci
Ristorante & Art Gallery.
After purchasing the
building last November,
Murguia and Marr decided
to expand to include a pizza
place and cafe beside the
longstanding restaurant.
The restaurant, gallery,
pizza place and cafe are an
experience in culture, art
and food with a menu fea-
turing international cuisine
on Bayfield's Main Street.
It was what they knew and
loved. Murguia and Marr had
operated an art gallery in
New England for many years
before making the decision to
move North of the border.
They had many successful
years together before Marr
passed away this past May.
Marr still has a large pres-
ence at DaVinci, his memory
lives on through his work.
His oil -on -canvas paintings
are hung throughout the res-
taurant and gallery.
In Marr's early work his
art featured vibrant, ener-
getic colours. Later in his

life, as he became more well
known, he chose calmer,
peaceful colours and
scenes, said Murguia.
Murguia is an artist in his
own right; his fine art pho-
tography is also on display.
All the work is original and
up for sale.
Taking into consideration
community demand, Mur-
guia opened up DaVinci
Gourmet Pizza.
"It's what was needed,"
said Murguia.
The whole town is happy
with the changes that have
been made. Murguia sees
people coming from all over
the area, again and again.
"The concept and changes
have been welcomed," said

In between the pizza place
and the restaurant is the
DaVinci Cafe. Wanting to
keep the formality of the din-
ing experience without giv-
ing up the take -away aspect,
they decided to renovate the
cafe as a separate unit.
An Italian theme, incorpo-
rating Cajun and other inter-
national cuisines, the restau-
rant menu offers a wide
variety of choices.
One specialty is the three
different lasagnas: four -
cheese lobster, chicken
alfredo and traditional.
The menu boasts house -
made deserts including, a
flourless chocolate and
hazelnut cake with chocolate
