Since 2012 Fanshawe Col-
lege has been offering
numerous programs at the
REACH Huron centre in
Clinton and ever since a
strong partnership has been
growing between the two.
Among the various pro-
grams that Fanshawe offers
in Clinton is the dual credit
program which allows stu-
dents to take either college
or apprenticeship courses
while they are still in high
school. As a result, students
can earn credits towards
both their high school
diploma as well as a postsec-
ondary education allowing
for a smooth transition from
high school to college or an
apprenticeship program.
The overall success of the
dual credit program was
illustrated at the REACH
centre last Tuesday during
an art exhibit. At the special
exhibit grade 11 and 12 stu-
dents from St. Anne's Catho-
lic Secondary School in Clin-
ton, Goderich District
Collegiate Institute in
Goderich, South Huron Dis-
trict High School in Exeter
and F.E. Madill in Wingham
came together to present the
work that they have pro-
duced thus far in the pro-
gram which consisted of
paintings and sculptures.
As Tory Eckstein, a dual
credit teacher with the Avon
Maitland District School
Board states, the art exhibit
allows the students an
"opportunity to explore dif-
ferent mediums that they
may not have used before."

An art exhibit at the REACH Huron centre in Clinton last Tuesday
brings attention to Fanshawe College's dual credit program.
Board, agrees and states that
the art exhibit has allowed
students an "opportunity to
think differently." "Every
piece that they have created
has a different story," he says.
The theme of this year's art
exhibit was First Nations
where the main aim was to
bring awareness to the First
Nations people and culture.
Anyone who is interested
in signing up for Fan-
shawe's dual credit pro-
gram should contact their
guidance or student suc-
cess counsellor at their
home school to ensure that
they meet the program's
requirements. Fanshawe
College provides the
courses, however, the indi-
vidual school boards will
grant an individual admis-
sion to the program.
You are cordially invited
