First win of 2015 a
doozy for Radars
Dave Flaherty
QMI Agency/For The News
Record
As the holiday season
passed by, it was a light
couple of weeks for the
Clinton Radars in WOAA
Senior AA Hockey League
action.
The Radars were up
against the Milverton
4WheelDrives on Fri., Jan.
2 at the Central Huron
Community Complex.
They showed some
resiliently by pulling off a
4-3 victory in overtime.
After a scoreless first
period, Milverton posted
three goals in the second
frame to take a comfortable
lead in the final period.
However at 15:49 of the
third, Alex Avery scored
his 12th goal of the season
from Ryan Murphy.
With the pressure on,
Avery scored again at 2:37,
with assists going to Mur-
phy and Jordan Currie.
Only 32 seconds later,
Brendan Dale knotted the
score with his fourth goal
of the season.
Kyle Provily and Kyle
Smith picked up the
helpers.
The Radars would com-
plete the comeback when
Sean Consitt scored short-
handed at 2:28 of
overtime.
It was a very closely
played game as the Radars
outshot Milverton only by
one, 36 to 35.
The victory was a
bounce back from a 6-3
loss to the Tillsonburg
Thunder on Sat., Dec. 27.
The Radars scored all
their goals in the second
period, but gave up two in
every frame to
Tillsonburg.
Kevin Baetz, Sean Con-
sitt and Rob Ringuette
scored for the Radars.
The Thunder outshot
Clinton 39 to 28.
The Radars currently sit
at 12-5-0-2, good for 26
points and second in the
South Division.
They will once again
face Milverton, this time
on the road, on Friday at
8:30 p.m.

Health Unit urges smokers to kick
off the new year by kicking the habit
January is the most pop-
ular month for smokers to
try and kick the habit.
If your New Year's reso-
lution is to quit smoking,
the Huron County
Health Unit can help.
The Health Unit is offering
STOP (Smoking Treatment
for Ontario Patients)
workshops throughout
January to help you reach
your goal.
"If you're ready for a
change and looking to
make 2015 the year you
become smoke free, STOP
workshops are a great
opportunity to take that
first step," said public
health nurse Julie Verch.
"The workshop shows you
how to make your own per-
sonal quit plan and gives
you tips on how to cope
with cravings. It also pro-
vides information on nico-
tine replacement therapy
and how to properly use it."
Eligible participants can
also receive five weeks of
free nicotine patches as
part of the workshop.
Workshops take place in
Clinton on Jan. 13 and Jan.
22 at 6:30 p.m. Pre -regis-
tration is required so
please register early.
STOP workshops are
held by the Huron County
