Traffic complaints
leads to drug
possession
charges
CENTRAL HURON — Receiv-
ing a traffic complaint led OPP
officers to lay drug posses-
sion charges against a 66 -year-
old Central Huron man.
According to police at about
12:38 p.m. on Nov. 18, Huron
County OPP officers received
a call about a vehicle that was
observed travelling westbound
on Huron Road toward Goder-
ich in an erratic manner.
A short time later, the sus-
pect vehicle was spot-
ted parked at a shopping
mall plaza on Huron Road.
Police said the offic-
ers approached the vehi-
cle and spoke with the driver.
The driver was display-
ing signs that he was under
the influence of a drug.
As a result, a demand was given
to the driver that required him
to provide standard field sobri-
ety tests. The driver failed the
field sobriety tests and was
placed under arrest. The driver
was also searched incident to
arrest and the driver was found
to be in possession of cocaine.
A drug recognition expert
attended the Mitchell OPP
Detachment and conducted
drug evaluation tests. The
driver was determined to
be impaired by drug.
As a result, the accused has
been charged with impaired
operation of a motor vehicle
and possession of cocaine. He
was released from custody
with a court appearance sched-
uled for Feb. 2 at the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goderich.
Central Huron
man faces
impaired charges
CENTRAL HURON —A 63 -year-
old Central Huron was charged
after failing a roadside test.
According to police, at approxi-
mately 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 19,
2014 the driver of a Dodge
Ram pickup truck entered a
R.I.D.E. checkpoint located
at the intersection of Huron
Road and Orchard Line.
Upon speaking with the driver
police noted the male had
been drinking alcohol. A road-
side screening test was com-
pleted and the driver regis-
tered a fail. He was arrested
and subsequently transported
to the Huron OPP detachment
for breath tests. He provided
two samples of his breath to
a qualified intoxilizer techni-
cian and both samples reg-
istered over the legal limit.
As a result, the accused from
has been charged with drive
motor vehicle — over 80 mil-
ligrams of alcohol. He has a
court appearance scheduled
for the Ontario Court of Jus-
tice — Goderich on Feb. 2. He
received an automatic 90
day driver's licence suspen-
sion and his motor vehicle was
impounded for seven days.
Being stopped
for speeding

day suspension
CENTRAL HURON —A 25 -year-
old Central Huron man was
served with an three-day sus-
pension police allege he had
been consuming alcohol.
According to police, at approxi-
mately 7:40 p.m. a Huron County
OPP observed a GMC Sierra
pickup truck travelling south-
bound on Londesboro Road
at a high rate of speed. The
officer confirmed his observa-
tions with a RADAR device and
captured the driver's speed at
110 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Police said the vehicle was sub-
sequently stopped and upon
speaking with the male driver the
officer noted the driver had been
consuming alcohol. A roadside
test was completed and the driver

HURON EAST —A 36 -year-old
female faces impaired driving
charges after a single vehicle
rollover collision that took place
on North Line near Bridge Road.
According to police media
release, shortly after noon on
Dec. 20, 2014 Huron OPP offic-
ers responded to the collision
scene. Officers located a vehi-
cle in the east ditch. Officers
located the uninjured female
driver and while speaking with
her it was determined she
had been drinking alcohol.
A roadside screening test was
completed and the driver reg-
istered a fail. She was arrested
and subsequently transported
to the Exeter OPP detach-
ment for breath tests, which
police allege she failed.
As a result, the accused has been
charged with drive motor vehi-
cle — over 80 milligrams of alco-
hol. She has a court appear-
ance scheduled for the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goderich on
Feb. 2. She received an auto-
matic 90 -day driver's licence sus-
pension and her motor vehicle
was impounded for seven days.

attempted to
avoid RIDE check
NORTH HURON - A 60 -year-
old North Huron man faces
impaired charges after being
stopped at a R.I.D.E. check.
Shortly before midnight on Dec.
19, 2014 a Huron County OPP
the driver of a Dodge Cara-
van that attempted to avoid a
Reduce Impaired Driving Eve-
rywhere (R.I.D.E) program set
up at the intersection of Helena
Street and Turnberry Street.
Police said officers watched as
the driver made a three point
turn away from the checkpoint.
Officers followed the driver and
were able to stop the driver on
Josephine Street in Wingham.
Upon speaking with the driver
police noted the male had been
drinking alcohol. A roadside
screening test was completed
and the driver registered a fail.
He was arrested and subse-
quently transported to the Huron
OPP detachment for breath tests.
He provided two samples of his
breath to a qualified intoxilizer

Possession
charges after
traffic stop
SOUTH HURON — A London
man faces possession charges
after allegedly surrendering a
quantity of marijuana to police.
According to police, at approx-
imately 4 p.m. on Dec. 14,
the driver entered a R.I.D.E
checkpoint located on Hern
Line at Squire Road.
Police said upon speaking with
the driver officers detected the
odour of marijuana coming from
inside the vehicle. Officers fur-
ther questioned the male and
the driver handed over a quan-
tity of marijuana to the offic-
ers, which was seized and the
driver was released from the
scene on an appearance notice.
As a result, the accused has
been charged with posses-
sion of cannabis marijuana. He
has a scheduled court appear-
ance on Jan. 29 at the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goderich.
