Huron -Perth WMS annual meeting The Huron -Perth WMS Presbyterial held their annual meeting at Knox Presbyterian Church, Lis- towel on Monday January 19th. The theme for the day was "God Planted a Garden," Mary Duffin the presi- dent opened the meeting with prayer followed by the welcome from Knox minis- ter Rev. Don McCallum and also words of welcome from Marsha Hamilton, President of the Bessie MacMurchy WMS Listowel. Hymn "All Things Bright and Beautiful was sung." Mary Duffin gave the meditation on the theme with verses from Genesis2, stating that it was not to early to start thinking about planting your garden. The WMS Purpose was repeated in unison fol- lowed by the minutes of the 2014 annual meeting. Secretaries from the committees gave their yearly reports consisting of what each WMS Group had accomplished in 2014. Nominations Report was given and Shirley Aitcheson installed the 2015 executive. In Memoriam was given by Knox North Easthope WMS , remembering our members who passed away during the year. Devotions were by Wal- lace WMS on the New Year and Guidance. The afternoon speaker was Dorothy Henderson from Exeter. Her Presenta- tion "Soup ,Soil and Sacra- ment. She involved the member present and had a quiz on Food Nutrition. Roll Call "Biblical refer- ence to "planting and growing" was answered by each group present. Courtesies were given by Mitchell WMS with announcements following. Pres.- Willie Drost Secretary - Ann Wybrow Treasurer- Lois Kipfer Corresponding Secre- tary -Ethel Corry Londesborough news Brenda Radford Special to the News Record On Saturday, February 14th, the annual Easter Seals Snowarama for this area will use the Londes- borough Community Hall as its starting base. As usual the Londesborough Lions Club will be cooking breakfast for the riders and anyone else in the commu- nity who wants to show support for this cause. All monies raised through the breakfast and the trail run stay in this area to support individuals and families dealing with handicaps. Breakfast is served from 9 to that morning 12 h m rnin for $7.00 a plate. Riders can register for the run until noon as well. Then on Tuesday, February 17th, the Lions Club will be cooking again. Shrove Tuesday marks the beginning of the 40 day Lenten fasting period lead- ing up to Easter. During this period some faiths were forbidden to con- sume meat, butter, eggs or milk. Families had to use up these commodities before Shrove Tuesday and with the addition of flour made pancakes. The Lions invite you to sample their pancakes from 5 to 7 that evening for a monetary donation. You might keep John and Helen Lyons in your thoughts these days.
