Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance board meeting

The Huron Perth Healthcare
Alliance (HPHA) Board of Direc-
tors met on Thursday, December
3 at the Seaforth Site.
Updates were received from the
Governance Committee, and the
Clinton, St. Marys, Seaforth and
Stratford Site Local Advisory
Committees. Reports were
received from the Clinton, St.
Marys and Seaforth Site Chiefs,
Chief Nursing Officer and Presi-
dent and Chief Executive Officer.
Keith Taylor, Patient Family
Advisor (PFA) Co -Chair from the
Thunder Bay Regional Health
Sciences Centre presented on
how to effectively bring patient
and family centred care (PFCC) to
an organization. He shared his
experiences as a PFA, being an
active partner in advising the
organization about the patient
experience and the benefits of
working with patients and fami-
lies to ensure that patient values
guide decision making across the
organization.
The Board approved:
Governance Resource - Board
Meeting Agenda Policy.
Meeting Highlights:
• Gift of Lights and Tree of
Lights fundraising campaigns at
the Clinton and Seaforth Sites
provide a special way to remem-
ber loved ones at Christmas Time
while supporting the Auxiliaries.
• St. Marys Site Medical Imag-
ing Department recently cele-
brated the receipt of a new porta-
ble x-ray machine, funded
through a donation from Veteri-
nary Purchasing.
• Sheila Morton, Director and
Seaforth Community Hospital
Foundation member was recog-
nized for her contributions and
leadership with the Radiothon
that raised $45K this year, the sec-
ond highest amount in the
history.
• Local Advisory Committees
continue to investigate enhancing
their mandate to involve patient
and family experience, linking this
with the governance process.
• HPHA's Board Fall Advance
held November 26 provided an
opportunity to proactively look at
priorities moving forward, align-
ing priorities with the South West
Local Health Integration Net-
work's Integrated Health Services
Plan and
engaging with partners in the
system.
The next HPHA Board of Direc-
tors Meeting will be January 7,
2016 at the Stratford Site.

OPP BRIEFS
UTTERING THREATS
CHARGE LAID
AGAINST STUDENT
A student from Goderich District Col-
legiate Institute (GDCI) has been
charged with Uttering Threats follow-
ing an incident that took place earlier
this week at the high school located
on South Street. Over the lunch hour
on December 8, 2015 Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) offic-
ers were notified by school admin-
istration that a student had posted a
threat on a social media website to
cause harm to students and staff.
Officers attended the school and
were quickly able to identify and
locate the student that made the
threat. After further investigation he
was arrested and taken into custody.
The 15 -year-old male youth was
charged with one count of Uttering
Threats. He has since been released
from custody with an upcoming court
appearance scheduled for February
11, 2016 at the Youth Justice Court in
Goderich.
