Charitable auction set to surpass $1 million mark
in net proceeds raised over Dinner's history
Special to Clinton News Record
A gala charitable dinner and auction is set
to return in 2016. Organizers say community
support for the next Conservation Dinner
may help this fundraiser reach and surpass
the mark of $1 million in net proceeds raised
over the event's 27 -year history.
The Conservation Dinner has raised more
than $985,000 for community conservation
projects over more than a quarter century.
The last Dinner event broke all previous
records, having raised more than $61,000 in
net proceeds for the benefit of local commu-
nities. The Conservation Dinner is a partner-
ship of the Exeter Lions Club and Ausable
Bayfield Conservation Foundation along
with other community partners such as busi-
nesses and other donors, patrons (guests),
artists, and volunteers.
The Conservation Dinner Committee
invites people to buy a Conservation Dinner
ticket as a gift this Christmas season and to
help this local community success story
reach the $1 million mark. The Conservation
Dinner Committee has set the date for the
27th gala charitable Conservation Dinner as
Thursday, April 14, 2016 at South Huron Rec-
reation Centre, 94 Victoria Street East, Exeter.
Tickets remain at the previous year's price of
$65 per ticket and buyers get a portion of that
amount as charitable gift receipt for income
tax purposes. You may purchase the tickets at
the Ausable Bayfield Conservation office east
of Exeter at 71108 Morrison Line (just south
of Highway 83). To purchase a ticket or to

The popular fundraiser supports accessi-
ble trails; community parks; conservation

and youth; commemorative woods to
remember loved ones and improve forest
conditions; recreation through fish stocking
and a family -friendly fishing derby for the
young and the young at heart; and more. The
annual charitable gala features live and silent
auctions of art and other distinctive items
including travel packages and sports and
entertainment memorabilia. The event also
includes a special raffle and general raffle.
Wine tasting, appetizers, silent auction view-
ing and fellowship begin at 5:30 p.m. The
dinner begins at 7 p.m.
This dinner and auction was started in
1990 and the Exeter Lions Club joined as co-
partner in 1991. The net profits are split 50-50
