Wow, they grow them big in Walk- erton. This was a game that was hard on the body and we produced some great shots from the blue line. This was a game that showed we have some great shooters with hard shots. We pulled off an exciting 4-1 win. Wednesday night brought us back to Wingham to pre- pare for a battle against the Listowel Cyclones. This is an evenly matched team and we knew we were going to have to skate hard. After the first period, neither team had scored but a lot of close shots from the blue line. Hard digging on the boards and each team was not giv- ing up easily. The Cyclones are a tough opponent but we held our own on the ice and the game ended with a respectable 2-2 tie. Saturday morning brought a mid morning start at the frigid Blyth Arena. We played against the Twin Centre Stars. We dominated most of the game but the Stars remained determined to still play hard and not show any frustration. With over 40 shots on net and seamless line changes BCH was something to be admired. This was a game that showed great sports- manship for both teams and allowed our players to set up some beautiful passes and shots. We took home a 12-0 win and shut -out. Bring on the Semi -Finals! Another early start brought us back to Wingham. We played a tough game against the Saugeen Shores Storm. A Storm they brought! Many hard battles on the boards and the boys stayed tough and continued to push the puck through. The Storm was not giving it away, but neither were we. We really had to turn on the heat and get aggressive on the puck. When things got tough we stayed cool and played our game. It paid off. We took a well-earned 3-2 win. On to the finals. Home for a rest, we trav- elled back to Wingham, but not alone. We had siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends and other families making the Wing - ham arena feel like home. Horns, cow bells, clacker and blue leotards were all the rage. As the stands filled, the excitement seemed to build. We were up against a tough competitor, the Kin- cardine Kinucks, and it was a sea of orange and blue split right down the middle. This was a hard fought game and w could not have asked the kids to have skated any harder. Kincardine squeaked out a win and we took home silver. A few somber faces had us on our feet applaud- ing their amazing heart and sportsmanship. The Atom Rep Ice Dogs did a great job of representing our BCH Minor Hockey Association and we could not be more proud. Thanks to all who came out to cheer and support our Dogs. Thanks to the coach- ing staff who stayed on course and kept our kids moving and motivated. Thanks to Coach Pac and helpers for organizing our after party. After a bit of pizza in their stomachs, our kids began a double rink mini stick tournament and didn't look the least bit wor- ried or upset over coming in second. Lessons learned, it is just a game.
