Her Majes- Tea's Room opened for business at the beginning of October at 19 Albert Street in Clinton. It houses a mix of services and products brought together by owner/opera- tor Sofia Brindley. Brindley explained where the name of her store came from. "Recently I became a very proud grandmother which has changed my whole world." Her face lights up as she points to the framed portrait of her now six -month-old grand- daughter, Sofia Do, displayed in the corner of the showroom. Family has always been impor- tant to Brindley. With the newest addition, she realized that she wanted to do something that would remind people of the importance of making memories and tradi- tions. She adds, "As grandmothers and mothers it's basically up to us to keep this going." It is the memory -making that is emphasized at Her Majes-Teas Room, as the service she offers that is dearest to her heart is the Queen's Tea Parties, styled after the old-fashioned British tradition. Brindley excitedly relates that all little girls like to play dress up. She then smirks and adds that even when we grow up, women still like to dress up. "The 'Queens Tea Par- ties' allows us as grandmothers, mothers, sisters and friends to host being the Queen of our Castle and, by doing so, we start the tradition of hosting these parties. I feel in today's society we are losing the importance of family and spending simple time with each other. With all the electronics and distractions, we need to grasp and instill the importance of family." Brindley's sisters were a huge help with getting Her Majes-Teas Room up and running and con- tinue to participate in their own ways. Stella Monk is Brindley's sis- ter and partner in crime with the tea parties. It takes a lot of work to prepare for a party, especially one such as they staged recently that was a birthday party for approxi- mately 65 people. Her Majes-Teas Room provides round tables, chairs with covers and colour -coordinated sashes, table linens, fine bone china and 24k gold-plated flatware to create the atmosphere for the events at a location chosen by the host. A Prin- cess Cupcake cake is also available. Catering is arranged by the hostess. There are approximately 10 - 15 gowns available for the adult host- ess Queen to choose from, com- plete with a crown, as well as about 15 little princess gowns for the younger party -goers. The Teas are not only for children's birthday, but can also be adapted to other events such as bridal or baby showers, Valerie Gillies Clinton News Record Sofia Brindley holds one of the custom-designed tutus made by her sister that is available in Brindley's newly opened bridal shop and consignment clothing boutique, Her Majes-Teas Room, at 19 Albert Street in Clinton. retirement, honouring a special friend and other occasions. Monk also designs and creates the famous custom-made tutus that are available in both children's and adult sizes in Her Majes-Teas Room. They certainly add a touch of whimsy to the bridal and con- signment clothing displays in the showroom. All of the bridal fash- ions are new pieces at very reason- able prices. Companion lines of product include Crossroad Candles, which are scented candles, as well as Abbott real life candles, which look like they have a real flame, but are actually decorative candles with lights on a fabric flame giving a realistic effect of a flickering candle flame without the hazards of the fire. Another of Brindley's sisters, Elena, is the ironing girl. Brindley emphatically declares, "I hate iron- ing!" She jokes, "Between the two of them they keep me grounded to not get too carried away." More seriously, "The support of my fam- ily is what kept me going everyday when I doubted myself." On February 28, 2016 Brindley's shop will be do the entire bridal fash- ion show at the Welcom Wagon Bridal show in Exeter.
