Following the presentation there were light snacks available in the Council Chambers. The 2015 quarterly payment from rev- enues generated by the OLG Slots at Clin- ton Raceway for July 1 to September 30 was $187,562. These contributions are invested into capital projects and facade improvements throughout the commu- nity byway of grants. Brenda Maclsaac, Clerk of Central Huron, explains that the Facade Program receives $40,000 each year from OLG and another $40,000 through a donation pro- gram. This is administered under the eco- nomic development fund. One of the recepients of the Facade Program has been 9 Rattenbury Street, which is the location of Room 2 Grow, to upgrade the siding and windows. This is just one phase of the upgrading of that building. It is expected that Room 2 Grow will apply for another grant in the future to continue with improvements. There are other areas in the commu- nity that receive grants through the Community Improvement Projects grants. Each business must put in an application to be considered for the grant. The maximum they can receive is 50% of the total of their project to a maximum amount of $5,000 if the pro- ject meets the grant criteria. Maclsaac states, "Most of the projects we see come in are from $45,000 to $50,000 in total" Maclsaac reports that $38,000 has gone out this year so far through grants. As businesses are expected to also fund the projects it is estimated that this amount wound indicate that there have been $260,000 that has been invested back into area businesses in 2015.
