Last weekend Tim Lowey
and his girls moved into the for-
mer home of Edythe Beacom.
Tim has been living in the
apartment above the former
post office/general store. The
house on main street has been
a Beacom home since 1947.
Harold Beacom purchased the
property and moved his par-
ents into town. Edythe came
along as well and helped Har-
old care for their parents. The
house became Edythe's upon
Harold's death. The house had
been empty since Edythe
moved to Huronviewa number
of years ago. She visited not

LONDESBOROUGH UCW
Margaret Vincent was pre-
sent at the Londesborough
UCW meeting on April 20 to
offer an early view of the Inter-
national Plowing Match to be
held in the Walton/Brussels
area September 19 to 23, 2017.
Margaret is a member of the
match committee and member
service representative of the
OFA.
It is still early days for match
planning but Margaret noted
that there will be opportunities
for service groups to work in the
food court area for the match.
Volunteers will be needed in a
variety of other areas to make
the event go smoothly. The

Huron County will be hold-
ing the one hundredth Plowing
Match in the year of the one
hundred and fiftieth birthday of
Canada. No matches were held
during the Second World War
and the first after, in 1947, was
held at Port Albert. The 2017
match will be the fifth match
held in Huron County. Com-
modity groups will be inputting
and Barmy Tach in Walton will
be providing items of
advertizing.
The committee planning
the match are well aware that
the timing of the match holds
some difficulty for fall fairs in
the county. The match, fall
fairs and the Threshers' reun-
ion all have educational value
for the county's schools. They
are hoping to work with the
nine local fair boards keeping
all interests in mind. Visits to
and volunteers for the various
events may be negatively
impacted. Margaret promised
to keep the UCW informed as
the months go by.
Kittie MacGregor and Keri
Whyte lead the meditation for
the evening, focusing on earth
day. The scripture passages
Genesis 1:9-13 & 26 told the
story of earth's creation and
the creation of Adam and Eve
to have dominion over the
earth. Ladies present sang the
hymn All Things Bright and
Beautiful.
Keri offered a reading that
suggested the garden of our
mind needs to be weeded just
like our outdoor gardens. Kit -
tie read a humourous story
written by a church organist
who chronicled her life
through her shoes, especially
those she played the organ in.
President Laura Scott con-
ducted the business portion of
the meeting.
It was decided to again
assist financially the parents
of children in our congrega-
tion who wish to attend a
Christian camp this summer.
Contact Laura for more
information.
The UCW will lead the Sun-
day morning service on June
7. This is Conference Sunday.
The ladies are planning a
summer theatre outing for
July 7. Everyone in the congre-
gation is invited to come along
to see Wilberforce Hotel at the
Blyth Theatre. Tickets for the
theatre are $26. Dinner before
the show will again be
arranged as well. Contact Joan
Goodall by June 7 for tickets.
Londesborough UCW is on
the committee planning the
Campsite Experience at Camp
Menesetung on June 8. Plan
to attend this ladies day out.
