Hard work paid off for
the Huron Centennial
girl's basketball team as
they won first place in the
only tournament of the
season at Central Huron
Secondary last Wednes-
day. The girls remained
undefeated for their first
four games to secure their
spot but tied Seaforth in
the last game. For most of
the games Huron Centen-
nial dominated through-
out and won by a wide
margin. But tensions were
high in their game against
Hullett Central Public
School but they came
away with the win by one
point.

Home & Garden Show brings a crowd to Bayfield Arena

The Lions Club put on its
eighteenth annual Home &
Garden Show last weekend
at the Bayfield Arena.
The show featured 73 ven-
dors. Handcrafted soaps,
pottery, decor, tea and Hab-
itat for Humanity were
among the businesses on
display. Most vendors come
from the five surrounding
communities.
"We try to keep it as local
as we can," said Larry Simp-
son, President of Bayfield
Lions Club.
The show remains a pop-
ular avenue for local busi-
ness to showcase them-
selves. Simpson said that
the booths sell-out every
show and this year was no
exception.
"It must be worth it
because they keep coming
back," Simpson said.
He sees the same faces at
the show each year but that
there were about 20 per cent
new businesses this time
around.
There has never been a
cover charge but this year
the club asked people to
bring a canned food item for
the local food bank.
"If everyone brought one
can, that's a lot of food. We
get 3500 people through
here," Simpson said.
All income from the ven-
dors' fees goes towards
Lions Club programs within
the community.
