The Exeter/Seaforth U19A
Ringette have just completed
the season of alife time winning
the top prize of W' Ringette at
the Eastem Canadian Ringette
Championship winning 7-2
over PEI. The team represented
Ontario as "Team 0" and
included a trip to Moncton,
New Brunswick for the compe-
tition. In round robin play Team
O finished undefeated with 5-0
and eamed a bye to the final.
The Team 0 arrived in
Moncton, NewBrunswickearly
Wednesday and spent the day
touring the local attractions like
Hopewell Rock, Fundy National
park and Magnetic Hill for team
photo options. Thursday was
opening ceremonies.
In game one, Nova Scotia the
first team to meet the bright red
Team O. The locals had no
mercy knowing that they
needed a seven goal spread if it
was possible and dominated
winning 8-0. Team 0 started
the charge five minutes in and
didn't look back. The first half
action saw Avery Wedow net-
ting two, while Amanda Hodg-
ert and Emily Neubrand each
got singles. Second half had
Wedow with her game on and
got three more and Hodgert
added the final one. Amanda
Verbeke 2, Claire Rocher, Kim
Alcock 4, Lindsay Govers 3.

selwood, Neubrand all had
assists. Kyrstin Krainz recorded
her first shutout of the touma-
mentwith 15 saves.

dominated the physical game
against Quebec 2 winning 9-1.

sie Hennessy.
Game three was an unex-
pected 9-0 win over Quebec 1.

shutout. Goals were scored by
Govers, Wedow 2, Neubrand 3,
Verbeke 2, and Wietersen. Help
with the scoring Amy Alcock 4,
Wedow 3, Verbeke, Hennessy,
and Govers.
Both fast paced and a chal-
lenge, the 5-1 New Brunswick
game was a great test in game
four. AmyAlcockwas success-
ful on 2 shoots, Verbeke, Hodg-
ert, Neubrand each added sin-
gles. Helpers came from
Wedow, Rocher, Neubrand 2,
Wietersen, Govers, Verbeke,
and Hodgert. Krainz made 22
saves.
This fifth game had Hodgert
netting two early with Wedow
and Verbeke assisting. Rocher,
Wedow, and Neubrand each
added one before the ended of
the first with Team 0 up 5-2.
The second found the locals on
the defence most of the time
with the fast skating PEI team
trying everything to break the
defence. Krainz made 25 saves
for the 5-4 end to end win.
Team 0 would learn after
the semi final that it would
PEI in the final with them. The
championship game started
very similar to the round robin
match up in game five. Hodg-
ert netted the first two of the
game with Neubrand, Rocher,
Wedow, and Amy Alcock get-
ting assists. PEI added one to
end the half 2-1. Amy Alcock
scored the next two goals with
Hodgert, Verbeke, Rocher,
and Govers setting up the
plays. Again PEI jump back in
the game making it 4-2 with
11 minutes to go. The lead was
never comfortable knowing
the speed and skill of the PEI
players. The game continued
to be physical and Team 0
capitalized on a couple power
plays. Wedow scored with
Hodgert and Verbeke assisting
on a two-man advantage.
Amy Alcock and Govers set
Hodgert up for her third of the
game and Rocher slammed
the Door on PEI on a great
Wedow pass. As the clock ran
the final minute the fans start
to cheer.
This team finishes the 2015
season with 59 wins, five
losses and three ties. They
won the U19A provincial title
and all four tournaments they
played in. Team Ontario is
grateful for the amazing com-
munity support, family and all
the Facebook, radio, newspa-
per and television coverage
throughout their journey.
