Don Pullen from Huron
County won the annual Ster-
ling McKibbon Memorial
Award for Customer Loyalty
from Pickseed Canada ear-
lier this year
Pullen is the former Agri-
culture Rep for Huron
County and has lived in
and around the area his
whole life. He remains
humble about his role
despite the distinction.
"The reason I'm kind of
low -profile is because there's
lots of people out there sell-
ing seed and I don't want to
make it sound like I'm the
only fish in the pond or bet-
ter than anybody else:'
Pullen has been in the
agriculture game for a long
time and it isn't lost on
him. He's working with the
grandsons and grand-
daughters of his former col-
leagues. He loves the work
but he does it for the
people.
"The reason I really love
the job is that I've always
loved working with people
so much."

Sunday the Londesbor-
ough Lions Club served up
breakfast to a goodly num-
ber of people.
Now they invite you to get
your tickets for their
sixth Annual Fish Fry to be
held on Saturday, May 2 at
the Londesborough Com-
munity Hall. Advance tickets
for this meal can be pur-
chased from any Lion
member.
At the same time you can
get your ticket for their
Ninth Annual Rubber Duck
Race. This is a popular event
and tickets go fast.
Well, the snow has gone,
the grass is greening up
nicely and even some hardy
snowdrops, crocus and daf-
fodils are making their
appearance. The maple
syrup season was a good
one, I understand, making it
a tasty year for our waffles,
etc. And even with my lim-
ited time out of doors right
now, I spotted a red winged
blackbird the other day, so
the warm weather should
arrive soon.
A spring cleanup takes
place at Ball's Cemetery on
Saturday, April 25 beginning
at 9 in the morning. Lunch
will be provided by the cem-
etery board. Please bring a
rake and work gloves and
remember, many hands
make light work.
Speaking of spring and the
desire to get out working
those gardens, Greyhaven
Gardens is holding an Open
House on May 2. It was such
a cute ad in last week's paper
that one might want to
attend just to catch a glimpse
of those twins.
Another harbinger of
spring at our house occa-
sions the next item.
Race car driver Sam
Schmidt always dreamed of
driving the track at Long
Beach California. Sunday
that dream came true but
not the way he expected.
Several years ago Sam was in
a race accident and has been
a quadriplegic since. But
Sunday he drove the track
prior to the Toyota Grand
Prix of California IRL race.
Technicians have built the
car he drove using his head
and his voice. It looked like
sensors were attached to his
headgear over which he had
control for a successful lap
around the road course.
As I've remarked before,
the advances in equipment
and manufacture that go
into the building and driving
of these race cars eventually
find their way to our highway
cars. It will be interesting to
see how Sam's experience
helps other drivers regain a
measure of independence.
Incidentally Scott Dixon
won that race for the first
time.
Lena Nesbitt is home fol-
lowing surgery and could
surely use your prayers and
concern. While she recuper-
ates son Ron is having a
vacation at Braemar in
Wingham. If you are up that
way you might drop in and
say 'Hello:
Ann Potter could also use
your support as she cares
for her son, Gordon, at
home. Gordon is dealing
with cancer. The situation
would benefit from your
prayers.
Seems many folk took
advantage of the e -waste
depot last Saturday. It was a
good time/way to begin
spring housecleaning.
