during Daffodil Month
When loved ones are diag-
nosed with, or pass away
from cancer, we often want
to do something to help or
honour them.
The Canadian Cancer
Society wants residents to
know that there is something
they can do.
April is Daffodil Month
and there will a number of
local initiatives aimed as
raising funds in the battle
against cancer.
• From April 9 to 23, fresh
cut daffodils will sell for
$4.99 and new for 2015 pot-
ted daffodils will sell for
$5.99 at Zehrs Goderich.
• For every bunch of fresh
cut or potted daffodils sold,
$2 will be donated to the
Canadian Cancer Society.
• Volunteers will be selling
daffodil pins in Goderich at
the Beer Store, Food Basics
and Zehrs from April 9 to
April 11.
The Society will also be
holding a door-to-door can-
vassing campaign - volun-
teers in many communities
in and around town will be
going door-to-door to collect
donations on behalf of the
Canadian Cancer Society
during the month of April.
Money raised during Daffo-
dil Month helps patients and
their families in our commu-
nity. Donations fund life-sav-
ing research, support services
and other important work that
means fewer Canadians will
be touched by the disease.
According to a media
release, last year, thanks to
Canadians' support, the
Canadian Cancer Society
was able to:
• Fund $45 million dollars
in world-class research to
fight all cancers
• Help more than 85,000
Canadians through our sup-
port services to quit smok-
ing, get to life-saving cancer
treatments, obtain support
and advice from those that
have been there and answer
questions about cancer and
cancer -related topics.
Canadian Cancer Soci-
ety officials invite every-
one in our community to
join the fight by purchas-
ing a daffodil pin or fresh
daffodils, volunteering
time or us hosting your
own daffodil -themed fun-
draiser at work, at school
or within the community
throughout the month of
April.
