In the Culross municipal situation a
good deal of interest is manifested, A
present member of the Council sizes up
mattera as follows: Reeve Donaldson is
a candidate for re-election, and ail pre
sent councillors will stand for their re•
speotit!e positions, Yet there is talk of
opposition for the reeveship and for
oonnoillorships, Either Ed, or John
Kuntz is likely to try for the position of
reeve; but there appears to be some
indecision as to which will come out.
As for new men in the council the name
of Peter O'Malley is mentioned with a
good deal of confidence that he will be
in the rape; and Mr. James Ballagh is
also mentioned as a not unlikely aspirant.

Montreal, owing to the sadden death of
Mr. 13ardisty's father.

Jno, McFadden and family. Mr. Mc-
Fadden bought the 100 acre farm of
Epees Crich, ';s miles South of Brussels,
and is now in possession.
Rev. W. A. Smith of Ashfield, form-
erly of Grey township has been invited
to become pastor of Dungannon cironit
after next Conference and has accepted
subjont to the Stationing Committee
next Jane.

The construction train of the Guelph
and Goderich railway got into Morris
last Monday and the work is being push-
ed along.
Frank Bell, a former well known
Morrisite, has been seriously ill with
typhoid fever. He is living in Turnberry
and is still quite poorly.
Geo. Davidson, of Vancouver, B. 0 ,
and his brother Samuel, of Fullerton,
called on their friend Duke Jordan on
their way to visit their sister, Mrs Sam-
uel Jordan.
A welcome visitor in this locality is
Joseph Hanna, of Keys, Manitoba, son of
J. W. Hanna, a former resident of the
6th line, who went West 10 years ago.
He will spend a few months here. Mrs.
Alex, Nichol jr., is a sister to Mr. Han.

Council met aocorc3iug to statute On
Deo. 15th. Members all present, Reeve
Bailie in the chair. Minutes of last
meeting read and confirmed, The
Treasnree's statment showed oalauoe on
hand of $1747.74, received and filed. A
by-law was padeed and debentures issued
for the Kirk's drain and the time for
completion of said drain was extended
to June, 1507, on motion of Anderson
and Thompson.
The collector's time was extended to
the lat meeting of the new year, on
motion of Anderson and Medd,
A byelaw was passed appointing poll-
ing booths and deputy returning officers.
Tho Reeve and Solicitor were author-
ized to settle with Dr. ft Medd re the
obstruction in ditch on roadway opposite
Meddle property it they deemed ;t
advisable, on motion Of Thompson and
Anderson.
A number of cheques were issued
which Will appear next week in the
financial statement.
Council adjourned.

so as to have a school in this village,
are holding a meeting in the Foresters'

bas been visiting friends iu the vicinity
for the past few weeks, left on Tuesday
for Ethel.
A number from here attended the
Christmas concert given in S S. No. 18,
on Tuesday and report an oujoyable
time.

L. 0. L. for agrand coucert which will
eclipse anything of the sort ever given
in Beigrave.
