SCHOOL CONCERT On Wednesday evening, Dec. 17th, the pupils and staff of Hensall Public School entertained a large number of parents and friends with a play entitled "A Christmas Carol. Though the chief charact- er. Scrooge was still import- ant to the play, many of the scenes were written . and developed by the pupils and staff members. The role of Scrooge was shared by various pupils so as to minimize the number of lines to be memorized. Todd Goudie. Rod Parker. and Pam Cottrell shared the part of Scrooge. In the play the kindergart • en class sang several songs including • Snow.'Snow. Merry. Merry Christmas: and Away In a Manger." Following this chorus the Junior Choir rendered these numbers "Do You Hear What I Hear; Little Dove. Little Darling. and Drummer 'Boy." These scenes were part of the play: Skaters' Waltz. Grade 2 and 3. The Leftovers Christmas.' grade 1: "Holiday Dance" Grade 2.3. "A Vision of the Future' grade '1*. "A change of Heart." Grade 5,6. "A med• ky of Songs" In French. Grade 5.6 and Grades 3.4 did two scenes The Orphanage' and "The Cratchet Home* Following the play the senior choir sang liumbers including "Lo" H.,w A Rose 'Ere Blooming„ and We Wish you a Merry Christmas. The Junior choir was led by Ms. Mary Ellen Walsh while Mrs. Donna St. John conducted the Senior Choir. CARMEL CHURCH The Service at •Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sun- day December 21 st was a Service bf Joy. The kinder- garten and Grade t gave "The Christmas Worship": Grades 2.3,4. "The Three Emblems and Grades 5.6.7, .'The Gifts of Christmas.** The youth group with the help of the senior choir put on a presentation during the hour of worship. The P.R.O. thanked the leaders of the last 4-H Club and presented them with a gift. Joyce Wilson and Margaret Hoggarth. two of 'the leaders, made reply. the next club is "Ready. get set. sew"! A quilt committee composed of Mrs. Vern Alderdice. Mrs. , Stewart Pepper and Mrs. Robert Kinsman was set up. Mrs. Campbell. Eyre chaired the program which opened with a poem. gam Hoggarth. FORMER H ENSALL MAN DIES Edgar Lloyd Ormein pass- ed away suddenly in Red- wood City. California in his 63rd year. son of Bertha Blackwell and the late Milton Ortwein. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Billings). daughter Mary Lynn Loud. Redwood and son David of North Bend. Oregon and one gfandchild.
