Good year at Blyth
The Bb•th Summer

77 per cent house on average
during last summer's per-
formances, artistic director

Centre for the Arts (BCFA)
at the centre's annual
meeting in Blyth last week.
Nightly attendance was
about 100 ahead of the year
before. she added. Caution-
ing that such huge growth
couldn't be expected again
this summer and that operat-
frig costs would be up. Ms.
Amos paid tribute to the
community for ''terrific
support" in contrast to the
problems at Stratford. shf
said Blyth es "an amazing
mixture of artistic support
with community need and
enthusiasm."
Administrative director

Christmas ts almost here, and apparently
the Scrooges of the world are still here with
us.
On Sunday. a cat (with children in the
back seat) was observed on the first line of
Mortis Township near the centre siderciad It
stopped in front cif a private gateway where
two blue spruce trees were grawmg A man
got out of the car, chopped down one of the
trees and took it with him
The spruce tree was atmost four years old
and the people who owned the two of them
have now cut down the other one rather than
have a repeat pettormance
Ironically. there were Christmas trees for
sale on the Morris Township waste disposal
site for 55 hut apparenth that price wasn't
cheap enough for the culprits
The people who owned the sprohe trees
had kept the area around their gate NInttfuR
nice with the tree ; and some floorrs
planted around them. and thought the arca

Away back in 1882 those who were then at The Expositor said Merry Christmas
to Expositor Subscribers and provided them with this calendar for 1883. We're sorry
we haven't a calendar for next year 198.1. The greetings of those of us now at the
Expositor during this joyous Christmas season are every bit as sincere and heartfelt
as were those 98 years ago when we said
