TEACHER FOR SALE—Dave Scott played the
part of an English teacher, armed with a
'flyswatter and can of Raid, who bore a startling
resemblance to English teacher Cal Caldwell in
a skit at the SDHS Christmas concert recently.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO...—Remember Rudolph -the -red -nosed -
reindeer? Well, -he's been replaced by reindeer with names like Disco,
Flasher, etc., at least according to the Grade 12 skit in the recent SDHS
concert. The contemporary version of the popular Christmas tale proved
a hit with students. (Photo by Gibb)
Kilbarchan Notes
A specially decorated
tree at the nursing home
BY IVIABEL TURNBULL
In my pre -Christmas
reading 1 found this poem
which is worthy of repeating:
It was written by a local lady
Miss Elizabeth H. Taylor
formerly of Wilson St.
Seaforth now of Ritz Villa.
Mitchell. "The Roads that
'lead to Christmas" The
roads that lead to Christmas
are white with falling snow.
and fragrant with pine and
cedar and bright with candle
glow. the shining red .4 the
holly and . the mistletoe
hanging high. and the rush
and the trample of many
feet,
As the eager throng go by
Oh. the roads that lead to
Christmas go where the
doors stand wide. and arms
are stretched to welcome you,
home to your own fireside
No matter how far vou
wander. nor the ties that bid
you stay. The lights of
Christmas call vou back
though half a v.orld away
The roads that lead to
Christmas.
They devious are and long.
But warm with the hand i4
friendship
And sweet with laughter and
song
And memory•s hells are
Chiming.
Oh days we used to know.
And it all leads hack to a
Manger bed.
To a stable dim and low.
Where was cradled the King
of all the Earth
Such centuries ago "
A favourite quotation ,4
mine: After a heavy snowfall
'We look out in the morning
4-10fido8Gmetingi.
Ever green with glad
ness, deep in quiet
contentment — that's
Christmas! let these
n, good things be yours
and see 'God's Christmas
card in our own back yard.'

A VISION
Saul of Tarsus who was a
wicked man had a vision of
Jesus and became a
Christian on his road to
Damascus where he was on
his way to persecute the
Christians. Instead he
became a staunch supporter
of Christ and established
churches in many eastern
countries.
His name was changed to
Paul find In, the grace of the
Lord ..lesiis Christ he became
a special treasure for God.

A personal thanks to Bill
Hodgert who kindly drove
me over. When I came to
Kilbarchan in 1964 the
Hodgerts were the owners Of
Kilbarchan and renamed it
Kilbarchan from the
"Thamer Nursing Home."
That name has been
retained by two other Owners.
Kilbarchan was the town in
Scotland where Bill's grancl•
parents the Hodgeris
migrated from I repeat once
again this fact to clear up
questions that 1 have often
been asked about the origin
of the name Kilbarchan.
