NeXt year it will become an actuality, To make it easier to control the "clog problem" which is widespread across Ontario, the government has set re- gulations to be followed in each municipality with the municipal council establishing the amount of the fine, stibject to govern- ment approval., , Councillors Jim Papple and John Brownridge thought the $50 fine was steep but agreed to it when clerk treasurer, John McLachlan explained that dog complaints are re- sponsible for many of the telephone calls to the township office. Members of council re- presenting the township on local fire area boards for 1980 will be paid at the rate of 515 for each board meeting attended. This is up from the 512 paid in 1979. As well, Cleave Coombs who re- presents the township on the board of the Seaforth Community Hospital, will be paid 515 up from the $10 he was paid in 1979. He attended 20 board or committee meetings in 1980. Ontario 1-rydro has notified the townshi p that the new yearly rates for 1981 will be increased by 5330 for Vanastra; 5187.76 for Egmondville; $37.44 for Brucefield ; and 52.80 for the two lights in Harpurhey. It was reported that the Vanastra curling club was closed for, day during severe windy weather •but was permitted to be opened following inspection by an engineer, The., curling rink is allowed to be open for use while under <, constant monitoring because of possible structural damage during windy weather, heavy snovvloads. ASSISTANT Beatrice Fleming has been promoted to assistant supervisor at the Vanastra day care centre, replacing Debbie Denomme who resigned repently. Young James requested help to make the skating rink in a small municipal' park in Vanastra so that he and other children at Vanastra could have a place to play hockey because "the police had warned him not to play hOckey on the roadways." Members of council agreed -asphalt was not a proper base for a rink at any rate, as ice melts quickly on the black surface. A cement base or tramped snow makes a better base, they said.
