These four were Joseph, Mary, a raveller-and-the-stable boy. The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Peggy Ferguson who opened with a poem "A Candle". Business was conducted by Mrs. Joyce Pepper, Unit Leader, who gave all an invitation to attend "Open House" at Queensway Nursing Home on December 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. Hensall United Church Annual meeting January 21 beginns with a "Pot -Luck" supper. The U.C.W. Study Book is "Partners in the Gospel" and copies are available for each Unit. The Presbyterian Anna] meeting is to be held at Brucefield United Church on January 26 with the theme —1 "The Price of Partnership" At the close of the meeting Mrs. Ferguson read another poem "I Like Christmas" and gave courtesy remarks. SENIORS ENJOY CHRISTMAS PARTY The Three Links Senior Citizens held their Christmas Party on December 9. The President, Mrs. Ruby Bell, presided for the meeting. Correspondence was read, along with roll call and Treasurer's report by Mrs. Dorothy Brintnell. "Thank You's" were given by Mrs. Elizabeth Riley and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Taylor. WOMEN'SINSITTUTE The Christmas meeting of the Hensall Women's Institute was held in the United Church December 10, with sixteen members and one visitor present. Carols were sung and Christmas in Holland, Scotland Und England were described by Mrs. Rita Van Wieren, Mrs. Winnie Skea, and Mrs. Hilda Payne. A humorous skit was read by Mrs. Joyce Pepper and Mrs. Hilda Payne and Mrs. Pepper played a medley of Christmas tunes on the piano. It was decided to send for 25 London Area song books. A donation to the.church was also voted on. Bursary money of 75c per member will also be collected in January. the Hensall 1.0.0.F. and Amber Rebakeh Lodges met on Thursday evening and made arrangements to send boxes to shut-ins.' CARMEL CHURCH RECEIVES MEMBERS Carmel Presbyterian Church was decorated for the festive' season by the ladies' of the Church and presented a fine setting when the Communicant class of twelve joined the membership. Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted the service and, spoke to the class "briMyTt". hurch". Mr. Ron Flemingl, was guest soloist. Rev. Knight spoke on "The Cross in Christmas. Children bapfiZecf "0 To Be a Child Again" was the title of the sermon on Sunday morning at the United Church. Rev. McDonald spoke on how we as adults become literal, matter-of-fact, scientific, and miss so much of life, whereas children with their child -like faith, imagination, and spontaneity are able to re- ceive and give so much to Adults, with their literal outlook, miss so much of the glory and wonder of Christmas which the child with his child -like faith of openess, receptivity and ability to receive can have. During the Service seven child -fen were received into the Family and household of faith through Briptism; Tara Lynn Ingram, daughter of Sandy and Pam Ingram; Andrea Nicole McClinchey. Daniel Mark McClinchey, Robert Michael MeClinchey, children of Don and Gwyn McClinchey; Jeffrey Robert Davis Rathwell son of Bob and Kay Rathwell; Christopher Rowcliffe son of John and Bonnie Rowcliffe and Darren Jeffrey Zirk, son of Louis and Linda Zirk. The guest musician for the service " Miss Elizabeth Schwarz of Waterloo pre- sented flute, guitar as well as vocal solo s throughout the service. Hensall United Church Sum' , Church School students along with some of their parents and little brothers and sisters enjoyed an old time Christmas Party as the church Friday evening. The , evening opened with the singing of Christmas Carols led by Rev. Mr. McDonald and Joyce Pepper at the piano. A film "The Gift" was shown which showed the real meaning of giving at Christmas. . The children discussed with Mr. McDonale following the film, what this meant. The children, young people and adults were then divided into age groups for games and fun. The evening came to an excitini climax when Santa arrived and time was given for each child to have con- versation with Santa before the candy bags were given out.
