The President Mrs, Har- vey Hyde presided for the Christmas meeting of the W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyt- erian Church which was held at the home of Mrs. Robert Bell on Monday following a delicious potluckdinner. Mrs. Hyde opened the meeting with a poem "December Morning." Mrs. Ruby Bell was in charge of the devotional. Mrs. Jona Snell read the scripture. Mrs, _Bell gave -the-IIGhrist mas Message" and contlud- ed with a poem and led in prayer. The offering was dedicated by Mrs. Hyde and Mrs. Faber read the minutes. A card of thanks was read from Mrs. Mabel Munn. Mrs. Hyde reported the visiting done in November by Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Thompson. Mrs. Hyde expressed thanks to Mrs. Bell for being host- ess. Mrs. Margaret Hog-garth presided for the meeting of the Ladies' Aid which follow- ed and opened with a messae "The ' Peace of Christmas Time." The treasuret„ Mrs. Hyde, ' gave a report of proceeds, Mrs, Marlene Bell reported for the Ciard con- vener. Group leader Mrs. Dorothy Taylor announced special music is being pre- pared for the Christmas month when the Van VVieren sisters will supply music. Ron Fleming -will play and sing on, Sunday, December 14th, when Holy Communion will be dispensed and Miss Sandra VVadel willplay on December 21st. Mrs. Rtiby Bell reported for itie kitchen committee. Stan McDonald spoke to the ladies' about the "Christmas edo! service Brucefield United Churc h Sunday school had a special service on Sunday Nov. 30th to celebrate the 200th ann- iversary of Sunday Schools in the Church hall with Bob Walters, Sunday School sup- erintendent, in charge. The senior class - Julie Townsend Cathy Mustard. Estella Wil- son, Kristen Van den Neuk- er, Don Taylor and Jeff Walters led the service. The scripture passages were read by Jo-anne Gruenwald, Nan- cy Taylor, Becky Rathwell, and Kara Van den Nueker of the intermediate class. Scott Townsend and Bobby Gruen- wald of the junior class took up the,offering. Mrs. Donna McBeath and Mrs. Barbara Moffat lead the musical selections. Mrs. Doris Cante- Ion, Mrs. Jean Taylor and Nancy Broadfoot lit the cand- les on a large chocolate cake and after the singing happy birthday, they in turn blew out the candles. The cake baked by Anne Walters and decorated by Joyce Walters and the fruit punch was enjoyed by the pupils to conclude a time of sharing and fellowship. White Gift Sunday was observed at Church this past Sunday with members of the Happy Hour group assisting the minister. Those taking part were Kathy Rathwell. Linda' and Lois Bennedyk. Darryl Faber, Cindy Walters, Jason Turner. Janet Mc - Beath, Christina Cooper. Michell Turner. Lori Dewys. Tracy McIntosh. "Barbara Fotheringham. Joanne Con- sitt, Lois Ann Lostell and Tricia Cooper. Mrs. Barbara Coope c and Mrs. Mildred McGregor the leaders also assisted. VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jackson spent the weekend with their daughter and son in taw and family in London. NSALL and area news Auxiliary entertains The HensalI Legion and Ladies' Auxiliary entertained their families at their Christ- mas party on Sunday. Films were shown and Santa Claus arrived and presented the children with gifts and treats. UNIT IV MEETS The Christmas meeting of Unit IV of the Hensall United Church was held in the Fellowship Hall on Thursday. December 4th with 13 members and one visitors present. Rev. Stan McDon- ald presided for the meeting in the absence of the leader Mrs. Nan. Britton. The meet- ing opened with the call to worship by Rev. McDonald., Dorothy Mickle was sfcret- ary for the meetitig:-Thirty- one visits were made to the sick and shut-ins during the past month. Mary Roobal reported for the cards sent out and Myrtle Shirritt. treasurer gave a splendid financial report for the year. Rena Caldwell. Social con- vener for the group. spoke and thanked the ladies' for their help during the year. "Thank You" notes were read- from Slisan- Purdy and family and also from her sister-in-law Mable Selves. The Congregational meeting will be held Jan. 21st in the New Year. The nominations were conducted by Rev. McDonald and all the officers were re-elected. Rev. McDonald had charge of the Christmas program. Be- tween each poem a carol was sung with Mrs. Mickle accompanying at the piano, Susan Purdy received the offering and it was dedi- cated.
