(Photo by Dillon) Christmas activities JAN FERGUSON 482-3772 On Saturday December 6th the school's float was en- tered in the Clinton Parade where d won the prize as best theme float. We would like to thank Doug Johnson of the Conestoga College staff for his help and advice in the construction of this float. Special thanks go out to Mr. Haak who loaned us the wagon and to Fred Zwaan who let us use his building. The Grade 5 and 6 class have been very busy working on their play for the Christ- mas concert to be held on ec Tuesday D. 16th at 7:30. Next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 - 9:20 we will be conducting our annual White Gift Service/Carol Sing. Children who wish to partici- pate are asked to bring a gift wrapped in white paper and labelled so that we know the contents. Next Monday morning we will have a dress rehearsal for our concert. On Thursday December 18th our boys and girls will be treated to a Christmas film. This film is the teachers gift to the children in their classroom, On Friday December 19th. we will dismiss at noon for the Christmas break. MEN'S BONSPIEL Over 5500 in prizes were given out for the Mens Bonspiel at the Vanastra Curling Club on Saturday Dec. 6th. Winners of the 9 a.m. draw are 1st place winners of 20 lb. turkeys: Skip-Gord Pryce. Vice • Bill Lobb. 2nd • Bruce Coleman and Lead - Laurie Fisher from Seafcrrth. Winners of the 11 a m draw were 1 st place Mike Walker- Skip. Vice Bob Freel 2nd- Mike Ash. and Lead Florian Kuchyriski from Lon- don This team also won the George Cattier trophy and four miniatures to keep. Se- cond. pace winners of 20 lb turkey wore Skip- Don Mitchelmore. Vice. Ivan Lince. 2nd • Cliff Parker and Lead Bob Allen from Vana- 4 stra.3rd place winners of 14 lb turkey were Skip: Gerry Walters, Vice - Phil Foster, 2nd - Larry Sturdy, and Lead - Ron Boel from Goderich. Consolation winners of hams' were: Skip- Mery Falconer, Vice- Laird Finlayson, 2nd - Stu Wilson, and Lead Brad Falconer from Vanastra. Door prize winners were Don Taylor and Bill Munroe. CUBS Last week the new cubs started working on their Blue Star. Colin Thomas received his First Aid Badge and lony Goulding received his Collec- tor Badge. The boys were presented their Lions crests to be sewn on their necker- chiefs. THe cub Christmas Party will be on Dec. 15th at John Bjerg's house at 630, their last meeting until Janu- ary 5th 1981. ment finally came on Dec. 10th. The two leaders en- rolled were Carol McIlyeen and Marion Hohrner. The Pathfinders enrolled were: Penny Lewis, Shiela Maxwell Christine and Kathy Davis, Pam Brownridge and Dawn McLeod. The girls will hold their last meeting of the year on Dec. 17th. NURSERY SCHOOL The Vanastra Nursery, School will hold their Christ- mas Party on Dec. 18th. The kids and mothers have , ex- changed names. Santa will make an appearance and the kids will be served hot dogs and pop and the mothers submarine sandwiches to mark the occasion. LIONESS CLUB Don't forget the social tea this Saturday at the Vanastra Recreation Centre at 2 p.m. The Vanastra 'Voice BROWNIES New'Brownies enrolled on Wed. were: Janice Body, Joan McLachlan. Kim Dixon, Kathy Stone, -Christine Fow- lie. Tina Cayer. and Robin Cain. Flying into guides are, Shelly Bonte - Gelok and Kathy Low. The new Brownies and Guides will receive a gift from thc pack at the Christmas Party on Dec. 16th. This will be the last meeting until January 6th 1981. G LID ES Last week the guides had a rehearsal for the enrollment on Dec. 10th at 7 p m. at the Vanastra Recreation Centre New Guides are Terri Evans Kern -Ann Jerome. Allis -on Jeacock. Tis is the last meeting until Janu• ary 7th 1981 PATHFLNDERS The long awaited enroll - Guest speaker will be Vera McNichol and you must be 16 yrs. old to enter the hall. Tickets are still available. Last Thursday, the Lioness Club held their Christmas dinner meeting. Gifts were exchanged and they were treated to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings ca- tered by the Vanastra & District Lions Club. The raf- fle was won by Kathleen Stone.
