game without goalies

I couldn't make last "'Weeks
deadline so the Industrial
Hockey League news didn't
appeat in the 'Expositor.
Sports news doesn't take
long to become old news so I
seldom make up the lost
week in the past because of
the boredom factor.
But one event happened a
couple of weeks ago that
cannot go untouched.
If you think Dave Winfield,
Roberto Duran or Muham-
mad Ali hold the monopooly
on the absurd you are only
partially right.
We have to roll back back
the pages of time to Sunday
night, Nov. 30 when the
Canadians and Bruins were
to face off at 7:00.
Both teams were warming
up when it became known
that both goalies were not

pulling time came when the
subs also failed to appear.
In the age old tradition of
the theatre, the refs insisted
that the show must go on -
and it did.
Both clubs turned the nets
around and thus began the
greatest farce in the history
of the Industrial Hockey
League.
In order to score a player
had to be over the opposi-
tion's blue !Inc and the puck
had to bounce off the back
boards into the net.
Anger may be too soft a
word to deseibe most of the
players* feelings at being
forced to partake of such
nonsense. I guess with
Christmas being so close its
only proper that the I.H.L.
sefve up a turkey!

head scratcher for you!
You would think a half
hour wait would be a small
price to pay to preserve your
integrity. Santa *Claus will
not bring any goodies to the
league this year.
RANGERS 10 PENGUINS 8
The Rangers evened their
record at five wins and five
lasses last Sunday night by
edging the hard luck Pens by
a 10-8 count
George Reeves led the
Ranger charge, by scoring
four timers Ktv.in Ben nett
and Ralph Wood each had a
pair of gnais with Bob Mont-
gomery and Fred Burton
rounding out the winners'
scoring.
Jack Ungarian continues to
have a fine sear. He set up
five of those goals for the
Rangers
John Nash and Steve
Stnith tallied two goals each
fat the Pens
Gerd O'Dwyer, Jim
McLeod. Rick Smith and Ray
Devereaux all added singles.
The Penguins failed to
beat the Rangers this year.
In the three meetings be-
tween two clubs the Rangers
won twice and nne game
ended in a tre.
HAWKS 8 BRUINS 6
Sid Weeks and Casey
Kfaver each had the hat trick
for the Hawks during their
8-6 middle matcht victory
ov-er the Burins last Sunday
evening.
Doug Fry and Ron Quipp
also counted for the winners.
Marc Rohitiefte, Terry
Stevenson and Doug Philllips
agnotehed two goals each for
the short-handed Bruins..
BP' O'Shea. Kevan
Broome and John Wilson
didn't play for the Bears.
ne win was the third
straight over the Bruins and
it keeps the Hawks just one
point behind the front run-
ning Canadians.
CANADIANS 10 FLYERS 3
It was. perhaps. the finest
display of skating and -
passing the league has seen
this year. The Canadians
finally put it all together and
the result was a 10-3 romp
over a short-handed Flyer
squad during last Sunday's
late, late game.
In all fairness to the Flyer
tearn, Jerome Aubin and a
still injured Jim Carter did
not p:..ay.
Thinners put constant
pressure on goalie Al Carter
with tenacious tore -checking
while his counterpart. Jerry
Cooper. had a much easier
time.
The Canadians swept the
season series for the Flyers
by taking all three games.
Dale Kennedy is back in
fine form and the result was
a three goal performance to
lead the winners,
Muray Henderson 'and
Dave Broome had a pair of
goals each while Paul Grid-
zak, Tom Devereaux and
Larry Coyne rounded out the
-victors scoring.
Two go'als seemed to be
the magic number this night
and Bill Price turned the trick
for the orange shirts.
Jerry Barringer rounded
out the scoring by netting a
single marker.
