Euchre was enjoyed. Prior to lunch -the following farewell verse was read. Dear Ben and Elsie: Winthrop was a pleasant spot, Where life just rambled on The community folk, a humble lot A carefree happy throng, But that was several years ago Before Wilson's moved in town. We soon found Ben was a beggar to go AndErsie never sat down. They ploughed the snow and cut the rass Did landscaping on the side They sawed the 'wood. even pumped the gas And tool, the mail out for a ride. They served the meals and dug some drains, Did plumbing now and then. And with handsaw and hammer and two super brains. They started building again. At first we thought the% 'II soon wear down. The lathe's you see admired. dear Ben. We fellows had to change. our, ways. _ ..... And work like heck to keep up to them It made nightmares of our days. But the oe also fit the other foot For Elsie as she toiled Stayed prim and tidy and the horns did toot And the neighbour women boiled But now we hear you're moving away Tho' we'll never be the same For now we can't sleep in on a working day We have to uphold our name. We mow the grass and cut the weeds Like we should have done before To keep up to Wilsons and pay good heed To our mates who might ask for more. Now if Winthrop had never set eyes on you Tho' we're dragging our seat behind. We would not be keen and tidy too And we would not have v.orked till were blind. But don't believe a thing of what you•ve heard We didn•t mean n all For God who makes the thistles grow Brought our paths to cross in life, And Ben and Elsie we want you to know, We think that was real nice. Tracy and Tina Bosman presented Ben and Elsie with ,a ceramic Christmas tree and a ftower arrangement. Ben and Elsie thanked everybody there. Lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed. Anne showed her display of ceramics. •She gives les-. sons weekly and has some very lovely pieces. At Wilson's for the week- end were Mr. and Mrs. Allister Wilson and -Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wilson.
