CENTENAMES 4
The Mitchell Hawks
erupted for four third period
goals (two of them on the
power play) as they scored a
come -from -behind 5-4
victory over the Centenaires.
The game was the best
---performatice—brthe—
aire s so far this season.
The first period saw no
scoring as both goaltenders
(McDonald of the Hawks and
Jim McClure of the
- Centenaires) came up with
several dazzling saves.- The
Centenaires outshot their
opponents 11-10 and had
several glorious op-
portunities to score.
In the second frame the
play again was very close
with neither team holding a
wide margin a play.

visitors into a 1-0 lead only

bounce back to take the lead
with two goals in three

Wayne Parkinson started
the scoring while the
Centenaires had a man
advantage. He picked up a
pass from goaltender
McClure and rushed up the
ice and let go a low bullet
drive from outside the
Mitchell blueline while
goalie MacDonald is still
looking for.
Hard working John
Devereaux scored the second
goal as he outmustled a
Hawk deffrider and rifled a
low shot which beat the
That was all the scoring in
the period with the Hawks
holding a 12-11 shots on goal
advantage.
The third stanze saw the
Hawks come out strong and
with only 17 seconds elapsed
and Centanire Captain Mike
Feeney in the penalty box,
Steve Otto blinked the red
light behind McClure to tie
the score at two.
The Centenaires however,
weren't through as they

Don Williamson, who was

scored the first one as he

behind MacDonald.
The second goal came off
the stick of Brian Cooper as
he jammed in a centering
pass from Ian Doig to score
what turned out to be the
final goal of the game for the
Centenaires.
Less then two minutes
later the Hawks drew to
within one goal as Darryl
Stacey notched his first of
two tallies.
It was actually a soft goal
on a shot which McClure, in
an attempt to aear,-Tihrie-d—

line.
That goal seemed to give
the Hawks a lift as they tied
up the score with five
minutes remaining in the
game with Stacey again
being the marksman.

Gord and Irma Pryce with
Bruce and Marjorie Coleman
obviously found the "nice

liking on Saturday. They not
only won the 9 a.m Draw,
they Were also awarded the

the Mixed Spiel for 1980.
Congratulations! A great
way to start your season.
Unfortunately the foursome
had to leave thier trophy on
display at the Ayr Curling

make great eating over the

after all, is what bonspieling

took a corner pass from Joe

as he blasted the puck into
