We were getting ready to leave town and ge. to a city with the population of Seaforth in just a few blocks. We were going to represent Seaforth at an ordeal that most bands only dream about The SIMS band as going to be on National TV at 1:00 that afternoon in the Grey Ctip Parade. How could we not feel excited about this? Aa I said, we crawled up to the high school at li:45 a.m., most of us awakening at 5:45-6;00.- The bus left Seaferth at 7:15 and we were on our way to Toronto. The bus trip back was full of excitement, fun chatter and snoring but seemed to eo rather quickly as Toronto seems miles further on a school bus than it does in 4 car with your family. Girls who'had chi/5 and 4 lunch to munch on seemed to be the' poPular ones to sit with and we sure didn't go' hungry. Most girls ate at approxi. mately 6:3Q and by 7:45 were . already eating their lunch. Kids, teens, in betviTieens Area wedding ANDREWS — KLAVER . COMING TO LIFE Once in the big city, everyone seemed to come to life again and watch as we passed all sorts of peepte owthe 401. Everyone seemed to have some place to go by some certain time. Not vs!' Sure we had to be in Toronto by 11:00 or so- to, "start marching but here it was. 9:00 and we were so con- cerned about watching the airplanes take of from ,the airport and all of tire traffic areund us. We went through' Chinatown stores start to open and the different kinds of people, that you hardly ever see around the streets of Sea - forth. Finally, we started. to seejloats and other bands and arrived at Queens Park at approximately 9:30. We sure did make good time. The one bus arrived ahead of the other so waited for the other one in front of a college. Then we were dis- • missed to get something to eat and have a washroom .break. This, gaveus a chance -to see more .of Toronto and see what the people. , of Toronto are like. We got some interesting ideas from some. The problem with eating at 10:30 after you have been up for four and a -half hours is that you're ready for lunch and Mcdonalds is still serv- ing breakfast. Sure that's fine if you didn't have a big breakfast and you didn't pig out all the way to Toronto, but if you're ready for lunch and possibly supperr you aren't ready to eat an egg McMullin. We meVagain at the buses to get ready to march at 1:30 or ,so •evcn though the parade started at 1:00. Did you notice the word buses has been used quite a bit? For this special parade, we rented two buses instead of the usual one bus. Even though the one bus was just a school bus, we didn't have to squeeze three people into .a oeat and still have people sitting in the aisles - ALL SET tO GO Once wc were changed. we were all set to go and no place to go. We stood wailing for the Parade to start for about two hours. It was a good thing Saturday was a nice day. We.waited patient- ly and every 15 minutes would tine up ready to march ofF. but ' disappointed. we would start talking to .our friends again But the mo- ment 'same that we started marching.
