LODGETO How allusrmAs PARTY NOble Grand Bertha MacGregor presided for the meeting of Amber Rebekah -Lodge- assisted by Vice -Grand Gladys Coleman. The treasurer gave the financial report to date. Evelyn McGrath reported attending the meeting held in Clinton to arrange for the "Speaks. Off" for the contestants for the United Nations trip to be held in March. Mrs. Verna Thomas D.D.P. for the District was appointed Chair - lady. "Happy Birthday" was extended to Isobel Rogerson and Leona Parke. Dorothy Corbett thanked her "Secret Pal" Arrangements were made to hold the Christmas Party after the next meeting and to exchange gifts with "Secret Sisters" . Euchre Bingo was played followed by a delicious lunch. The Social Committee were Isobel Rogerson, Dorothy' Corbett, Eizaheth Riley and Annie Reid. The entertain- ment committee were Vera Lenunon, Evelyn McBeath, Beattiee Richardson, Edith Bell. Hensall United Church 'Ming People enjoyed a record and pizza party at the Manse on Friday evening with a good attendance. Mr. and Mrs, Harry Hoffman, Mrs. Carl ileppler, Dashwood, Mr. John Soldan, Zurich were Sunday evening guests with Mrs. Dorothy Nickles, - Rev. Stan MeDenald attended a workshop on "Sudden Death and Helping the Survivors" this past week with the main speaker Dr. Robert Fulton, Director of the Centre fer Death Education and Research, University of Minnesota. The workshop was sponsored through King's College, University of Western Ontario. Mts. Murray Traquair who has been a patient .in University Hospital, London endergoing treatment returned home last week. Mrs. Elaine Stebbins, Mrs. Hilda Payne and Rev. Stanley McDonald read a modern parable which was acted out as a skit by Lorne and Joan Thrower and Brad Buchanan at the Hensall United Church on Sunday, November 23rd. In the skit, .the Throwers dined at a 7 fancysrestaurant, were given an oversized bill, which they paid pins a 10-15 % tip for the waiter, However at church at the next day, they dedided that a silver coin was all that was needed- for the offertory. The sermon was titled "Do you love the waiter more than God?" and Rev. McDonald questioned why, what •• and how much Stewardship demands? There are litany reasons for the "Why" but love should rule them all% "yvhatu, Not only money but health, ability and talents should be part of steward, ship, with Love pre- dominating. "How Much" depends on the individuals; love overrules any per- centage and dedication of ourselves is the ultimate goal of Stewardship. The children's talk was n illustrated by cuttinn a tenth of an apple away and seeing the large piece left for ourselves. Even if we give God a Tenth (a tithe) He leaves us plenty f or ourselves. At the meeting which followed in the town- ship WI, there were speak- ers from Shur -Gain and Elan - co Drug Co. Lori Coesitt assisted Joyce in a dialogue about a girl who stood up for Jesus. Many old and well -loved hymns, most of which are not in our humn book, were interspersed throughout the service. Next Suirday, members will be asked to vote on. changing the time of the service to 10:00 o'clock. This would give the minister more time to speak with everyone before leaving for Goshen. A reception and tea will be held in Varna Sunday School room on Saturday at 2:30 for bride -elect Margaret Aiding - ton. Everyone who wished to have a visit with her is cordially invited. Rev. Lyle Kinsmans steer won the Limousin Championship Honour and sold for 52.50 a pound. John Coleman placed in the top of of the Charolais Class. Dr. Thiel showed the boys and their leaders the .eq,uipment and drugs used in treating small and large animals and answered their questions.
